Deion Sanders’ Three-Word Reaction After LaJohntay Wester Receives Combine Invite

Wester, who is practicing for the East-West Shrine Bowl, received big news on Jan. 27 — he landed an invite to the 2025 NFL Combine.

The invite was always on the cards after Wester was named one of the top performers through two practices for Colorado’s postseason bowl game.

For Wester, the invitation to the NFL Scouting Combine is just the beginning. The event will give him an opportunity to showcase his talents in front of NFL coaches, scouts, and executives ahead of the 2025 NFL Draft.

When Could LaJohntay Wester Get Drafted?

Wester was drafted in the seventh round in this PFN mock draft — however, across the scouting landscape, Wester has a range of projections.

The former Florida Atlantic star, who transferred to Colorado for his final collegiate season, put together an impressive career, amassing 3,634 receiving yards and 31 touchdowns over five seasons.

The standout receiver and return specialist was a key part of Sanders’ program, which went 9-4 on the season and barely missed out on the Big 12 title game.

In his final collegiate campaign, he recorded 74 receptions for 931 yards (12.6 avg) and 10 touchdowns. On special teams, he contributed with a punt return touchdown.

Wester’s best season statistically was in 2023 when he played for the Owls. That year, he set personal highs with 108 receptions for 1,168 yards and eight touchdowns. He also recorded 278 punt return yards and a touchdown.

The NFL Scouting Combine gives Wester an opportunity to improve his draft profile and raise his stock from late seventh round/UDFA to earlier on Day 3.
