Shedeur Sanders Makes a Bold Case for Himself as a Pitch to NFL Teams – ‘I’m the Most Guaranteed Risk’

Colorado Buffaloes quarterback and top NFL prospect Shedeur Sanders was vocal about what he can bring to a professional franchise when selected in the 2025 NFL Draft. While discussing the upcoming draft at the East-West Shrine Bowl, Sanders made clear what he thought of himself and what he knew that he could bring to any NFL team if drafted by them.

What Did Shedeur Sanders’ Say at the Shrine Bowl?

The popular X sports content brand and profile ‘@SkoBuffsGoBuffs’ highlighted a few noteworthy Sanders quotes from his Shrine Bowl media availability. The release also credited ESPN NFL analyst Turron Davenport for the discussed quotes.

“Some Legendary Quotes from Shedeur Sanders at the Shrine Bowl 🔥 ‘I’m the most guaranteed risk you take’ ‘I didn’t know your parents wanting the best for you and being involved was a problem’,” the post was captioned.

The full quote from Sanders about his parents was, “I didn’t know your parents being involved and wanting the best for you is a problem.

“I think as parents, each and every one would want the best for their kids. The fact that he has the opportunity to do that for me and he has the best quarterback in the country, he’s supposed to do that.”

Shedeur Sanders’ 2025 NFL Draft Outlook

Along with Miami Hurricanes QB Cam Ward, Sanders is widely expected to be one of the top two quarterbacks taken in the upcoming NFL Draft. In Pro Football Network’s recent 7-round 2025 NFL Mock Draft, Sanders had the slight edge over Ward, as he was selected No. 1 overall by the Tennessee Titans while Ward went No. 2 overall to the Cleveland Browns.

PFN Draft Analyst Dalton Miller says of Sanders, “The days of statuesque passers are a thing of the past. Shedeur Sanders is the evolution of the pocket passer. He’s athletic enough to get on the hoof and pick up first downs with his legs, but many might be surprised to hear he’s not close to the athlete his father was. Instead, he fits into the Geno Smith or C.J. Stroud-like mold.

“Sanders’ almost instantaneous release makes up for what is only a slightly above-average arm. It lets him consistently test tight windows, and his class-best accuracy helps his projection as a long-time NFL starter.

“Sanders’ pressure-to-sack rate and willingness to hold onto the ball could, and should, cause some concern. However, the context to that is he’s also operated on an NFL timeline for the past two seasons behind arguably one of the worst offensive lines in the country.”

Sanders is ranked 25th on Miller’s Top 100 Prospects List in the 2025 NFL Draft.

Where are Users Drafting Sanders in the PFN Mock Draft Simulator?

Users controlling the Titans in the Pro Football Network Mock Draft Simulator are selecting him with 17.9% of picks in the first round. The next highest percentage of selections for Sanders in the first round are 13.0 of Giants’ users and 11.9% of Browns’ users.

Tabbed as a potential number-one overall pick since his emergence on the national stage with the Buffaloes, it’s hardly surprising that the MDS data shows the Titans as the team picking Shedeur Sanders the most with 17.9% of all picks for the franchise selecting the son of Deion “Coach Prime” Sanders.

Sanders led the nation with 74.0% pass completion this fall while averaging 8.7 yards per pass attempt. His 318.0 passing yards per game were good enough for fourth in the nation while leading the Big 12.

In fact, the Colorado QB led the conference in total passing yards (4,134), passing touchdowns (37), and passing yards per attempt. 16.7% of his completions resulted in a big-time play (20+ yards), while 10.5% resulted in a touchdown pass.
