Las Vegas Raiders defensive end Maxx Crosby took to Instagram to recognize a very personal milestone. Crosby and his wife celebrated eight years together, and the Condor put together a photo collage reminiscing on their time together.
Who Is Maxx Crosby’s Wife, Rachel?
Rachel Crosby (née Washburn) is also an athlete, as she previously played women’s soccer at their alma mater, Eastern Michigan University. The couple met in 2016 while Maxx was starting for the Eastern Michigan Eagles.
Meanwhile, Rachel established herself as a four-year starter on the soccer field, making her presence felt as a stout defender. She is the daughter of Mark and Trisha Washburn, and she has a brother, Chad, and a sister, Ashley. Rachel was a sports management major.
Maxx has said that his wife was there for him during his darkest moments. In an interview with ESPN in 2022, he detailed the bouts he had with excessive alcohol use while also becoming addicted to cocaine and other drugs.
“I was doing well to the outside world. I was runner-up to the Rookie of the Year [award]. Everyone’s like, ‘Maxx is killing it!’ But I was like wild as …,” Crosby said. “I was drinking. I was smoking. I was doing coke here or there. I was off the wall. I’d take a pill. I didn’t even know what it was. It was scary.”
“I put her through hell, and nobody knew, like, the extent. Nobody even believed her,” Crosby said of his wife. “That’s such a sad, lonely feeling. That still hurts me to this day.”
And the person he credits the most for his path to recovery? His wife.
The couple got married on March 4, 2023, after becoming parents on Oct. 13, 2022.
After all the two had been through together, Crosby had a succinct message to send to her via his Instagram story, where he reposted a photo from her Instagram account: “The Queen. Love you baby.”
In Rachel’s initial post, she highlighted a collage of the two over the last year, saying, “Year 8 baby” and, “Through it all. I love you so much,” sharing the time they’d spent together during their eighth year as a couple.
Crosby Looks To Bounce Back After a Tough 2024
Originally selected in the fourth round of the 2019 NFL Draft, Crosby was an instant success, totaling 10 sacks and finishing second in Defensive Rookie of the Year voting. Despite his internal troubles, he played every game during his rookie year through Week 3 of 2024.
In 2022, he inked a four-year extension worth $94 million and recorded 12.5 sacks that season. He followed it up with 14.5 in 2023 but saw a sharp dip in production this season after suffering an ankle injury in Week 2.
He finished with 7.5 sacks in 12 games after missing Weeks 4 and 15 before being put on injured reserve for the season’s final three games. This was the first time Crosby didn’t play every game of a season since he’s been in the NFL.
Crosby is one of the defensive stars of the NFL, and it was a huge loss Las Vegas had to absorb at the end of the season. Expect a big 2025 from the Condor as he returns to full health.
