Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders’ future has grabbed headlines and stirred speculation. With his sons — Shedeur and Shilo Sanders — declaring for the 2025 NFL draft, the coach graduating from college football to the NFL seems increasingly likely.
However, despite the rumors, Coach Prime has stayed adamant that his future remains in Colorado, regardless of how many fans and analysts suggest he’ll be the next head coach of the Dallas Cowboys.
College Coach Feels Deion Sanders Heading to Dallas Cowboys If Offered Job
After Dallas parted ways with head coach Mike McCarthy, Sanders confirmed during a conversation with NFL insider Adam Schefter that he has spoken to Cowboys owner Jerry Jones to discuss the job opportunity. This gave way to rumors that Coach Prime could be coming home.
Though Sanders has repeatedly dismissed any potential jump to the NFL, analysts and media members have continued to monitor the situation. Former college coach Jason Brown also feels that Sanders could be making the leap. For Brown, the answer is clear: if the opportunity arises, Sanders should seize it.
“If they offer it, he’s gotta go. They just gotta go. You know what I mean? In my opinion, he’s got to do it. His sons are gone. You don’t get this opportunity too often,” Brown said during an appearance on Matt Barnes’ “All the Smoke” podcast.
Jason Brown Shares Reasons Why Deion Sanders Would Like To Take a Job in Dallas
There are several reasons why Sanders taking a job with the Cowboys makes a lot of sense. Brown referred to Sanders’ own words about preferring a professional approach to football over the traditional college recruiting process.
“There are only 32 of those jobs, and Prime has been on record saying, ‘I don’t want to recruit, do the home visits, or deal with high school kids. I’m going to go about it in a professional manner and treat college like the NFL,'” Brown said.
“It is the NFL anyway. Why wouldn’t you do it in the NFL? Especially with Prime’s health and everything that goes with it. I’d want to get out of the damn cold and get my a** into some heat. I just think that matters in the long run.”
Brown further elaborated on Sanders’ ties to the Cowboys making a potential hire the right fit.
“He’s got a house in Dallas. He coached in Dallas,” Brown said. “He played there. It makes sense to me.”
Brown isn’t alone in assuming Sanders is a good fit with America’s Team. For now, though, his priorities lie with Colorado.
