New Orleans Saints stars Alvin Kamara and Cameron Jordan are lobbying for their front office to sign a specific head coach for the upcoming 2025 NFL season.
The New Orleans Saints had a dysfunctional 2024, losing starting quarterback Derek Carr to injuries before slumping to 2-7. Head coach Dennis Allen was fired after their Week 10 loss to Carolina, with Darren Rizzi taking over as interim head coach.
Saints’ Alvin Kamara, Cameron Jordan Bat for Darren Rizzi as Head Coach
Rizzi was three seasons into his role as the Saints’ assistant head coach and special teams coordinator at the time of his appointment as the interim head coach. He seems to have made a favorable impression in his time at the helm, as evidenced by the team’s marquee running back’s support.
Kamara posted his support on X (formerly known as Twitter) for the 54-year-old taking over the head coaching role in a full-time capacity. His wording wasn’t exactly subtle: “Aite my vote for head coach rhyme wit Fizzi…”

Kamara was joined in by defensive end Jordan, a member of the Saints throughout his 14 seasons in the NFL, who posted: “Also rhyme with drizzy!?”

As of Jan. 21, the Saints have interviewed Joe Brady, Kellen Moore, Mike Kafka, Anthony Weaver, and Aaron Glenn, in addition to Rizzi. Kafka and Weaver are scheduled to have in-person interviews soon, having made favorable impressions in their virtual interviews.
Kamara seemed to be peeved by the responses of Saints fans in replies to his post. Most fans advocated for some of the other candidates interviewed so far. Some scoffed at his support for Rizzi, leading him to post a fiery follow-up.
Ion really speak too much football. Especially in the offseason. But it be funny hearing why yall think a coach should get a job or not. But then again.. the last time some yall played organized anything was last night on 2k. Can’t een get ya best friend to pass you the ball at…

Kamara also took it up with a fan in reply to his latter tweet.
Nahh Thas not what I said. If I wanted to say that I would have.. this tweet is for everyone. Broadcasters. Some fans. Some players. My mama. All that, but I see some yall wanna be victims so proceed 🤷🏾♂️

Another fan asked him his opinion on the Saints’ quarterback situation, which has been shaky since the legendary Drew Brees’ retirement. However, Kamara remained coy and gave a cheeky answer to that question.

Rizzi’s impact on the Saints’ locker room during his time as interim head coach clearly seems to be positive. Despite missing many crucial starters, the team was able to go 3-5 to end the season. However, he faces stiff competition and is generally viewed as unlikely to come out at the top of the selection procedure.
