Rumors Suggest Another NFL Hall of Famer Might Be on His Way To Join Coach Prime in Colorado

With many Buffaloes star players departing for the NFL, Coach Prime is adamant about reshaping his staff, and he's eyeing an NFL Hall of Famer.

Early offseason movements are fully ongoing, with Colorado coach Deion Sanders also making changes to his coaching staff. According to beat writer Biran Howell, Hall of Famer Marshall Faulk could be on his way to Boulder. He is a main contender in the Buffaloes’ search for a running backs coach after Gary Harell parted ways with the program.

Faulk and Sanders were both inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2011 and also were co-hosts on “NFL Network” from 2006 to 2017. The former was a running back during his 12-year-long playing career and accumulated 12,279 yards and 100 touchdowns, along with 767 receptions, 6,875 receiving yards, and 36 scores.

Faulk was the second overall pick in the 1994 NFL Draft by the Indianapolis Colts. Apart from the Colts, he also played for the St. Louis Rams, after being traded in 1999, which culminated in a Super Bowl win in 2000.

After finishing their 2024 campaign fourth in the Big 12 conference, Coach Prime is looking to make a big change to the Buffs this year. With many of his star players departing for the NFL, he is adamant about reshaping the team. If Faulk joins Colorado’s coaching staff, he will work beside Tommie Robinson, who’s the Buffs assistant RB coach and was the director of quality control until last season.

On his mindset going into the 2025 season, Sanders said: “So what! That should be your attitude in 2025 ‘SO WHAT’! They gon talk about u, lie on u, Hate on u, Underestimate u, Count u out, Steal from u, Use u to come up & Sit right in yo face all the while. ‘SO WHAT’! What God has for u is still for u! They can’t stop God!”

Faulk has no coaching experience, but his time in the NFL is reflected in his induction into the Hall of Fame.

He won NFL Offensive Player of the Year three years in a row from 1999 to 2001, and also took home the MVP award the year the Rams won the Super Bowl. The seven-time Pro Bowler would also join another Hall of Famer on Sanders’ staff — Warren Sapp — who’s been a graduate assistant with the Buffaloes since 2024.
