NFL-Bound Travis Hunter Raises Eyebrows With His ‘$40 Million’ Remark To Stay at College

NFL-bound Travis Hunter finally opened up on the offer that would be needed to keep him in Boulder, Colo., for one more season.

Colorado Buffaloes two-way star Travis Hunter happens to be a hot prospect in the upcoming 2025 NFL Draft. After a terrific season, Hunter decided to forgo his senior year and decided to take his skills to the NFL — and rightly so, he is expected to go off the board as a top-five pick.

However, the star wideout playfully spilled beans on the chances of him staying at college for one more season, but that will need a huge bag of NIL money.

Travis Hunter Makes Eye-Catching Remarks About Staying at Colorado

The NFL-bound offensive standout made an insane impact at college with his two-way abilities under Coach Prime. He was pivotal in leading the program to a 9-4 record that was 1-11 two years ago and helped the program to make the postseason for an Alamo Bowl appearance.

All these monumental achievements took him to the Heisman podium, finishing on top as the winner of the coveted honor. It’s a no-brainer that he would eventually opt for the pro league, especially when his soared draft stock attracts interest from top teams. However, if there was a chance for Colorado to keep him at college, it would take as much as $40 million.

“Nah, it was a no-brainer. I ain’t never said I ain’t ready for this. I was born ready boy! But I mean, if they do wanna offer me that $40 million, though, like, I’ll go back to school. … I’ll be back at school happy. I’ll be happily going to class. I’ll have all in-person classes boy,” Hunter said in his own podcast on Wednesday, Jan 15.

Similarly, he was perplexed by former Georgia QB Carson Beck making an insane amount of money — reportedly almost $10 million via his Name, Image, and Likeness, or NIL, deal — before the 2025 season. The changing landscape of college football offers almost double and threefold money compared to the NFL rookie contracts.

According to the current NFL Draft order, the Tennessee Titans hold the No. 1 overall pick. Hunter has been prominently linked to the Titans; however, they are in dire need of a QB. Most likely, Shedeur Sanders and Cam Ward could be their potential targets.

It seems as though No. 4 to the New England Patriots is a likely landing spot, as new coach Mike Vrabel could look to create a balance on both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball. And who could be a better option than Hunter to handle the business as a two-way star?
