It was a dream season for NFL Draft prospect Travis Hunter, who played a pivotal role in transforming the Colorado Buffaloes. The program that was 1-11 two years ago wrapped up the 2024 season with a 9-4 record and a bowl game appearance for the first time since 2020.
Much of it is thanks to Deion Sanders’ leadership and Hunter, who proved vital for Colorado’s offense. As Hunter takes his skills to the NFL, Hall of Famer Ed Reed relayed eye-catching support for the Heisman winner.

After their 2024 season, the Buffaloes aim to become a powerhouse in the Big 12 and emerge as a championship-worthy program. This transformation by Coach Prime came not just on the football field but also through academics and the overall holistic development of their football player.s On Thursday, Jan. 16, speaking about this notion, Reed mentioned that Sanders had been a fatherly figure for everyone, including Hunter.
“Prime is dedicated to each and every last one of those kids as a dad, like, that’s what I love about him. He speaks of his kids, but when he speaks of his kids, like, he really is talking about each and every last one of those kids,” Reed said.

“I know what Prime is doing is helping football tremendously, but it’s helped those young men so much more because it’s so much more other than football, and that’s a lot of them that’s not going to play football. I believe he [Travis Hunter] can get with the right coach, and they can utilize his talents.
“He’s going to, you know, what position he wants to play. You know, what position they are going to want him to play. All that’s going to be a discussion, you know, in the system that he gets in is going to be key. I look forward to seeing what he does in the league,” he added.
According to the current NFL Draft order, the New England Patriots hold the No. 4 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. The Tennessee Titans currently hold the top pick.
Hunter could be a target for the Patriots, who have the earliest pick of any non-QB-needy teams, and their new incoming coach Mike Vrabel could utilize Hunter on both sides of the ball since Vrabel himself is one of the best defensive minds in the NFL but also saw some time on offense in his playing career in New England.
The Titans could also utilize their pick on Hunter; however, they are QB-needy and could look to land either Shedeur Sanders or Cam Ward as the top pick.
