‘I Hate Eagles Fans’ — Rams Rookie Star Jared Verse Takes Shots at Philadelphia Fans, Saquon Barkley Responds

Rams rookie Jared Verse may have just written his own obituary after he criticized Philadelphia Eagle fans before their playoff game.

The fans of the Philadelphia Eagles have garnered the reputation of being the harshest fans in the NFL, and Los Angeles Rams rookie Jared Verse called them out for their bad behavior.

Verse took shots at the Eagles fan base before their Divisional Round matchup this weekend.

Jared Verse Pulls No Punches Ahead of Divisional Round Bout

Verse, who is from Berwick, Pa., attended Central Columbia High School in Bloomsburg, Pa., and had some harsh words for Eagles fans.

Verse told the Los Angeles Times:

“I hate Eagles fans. They’re so annoying. I hate Eagles fans. I didn’t even do nothing to them. It was my first time playing. Oh, I hate Eagles fans. … When I see that green and white, I hate it. I actually get upset. Like I actually genuinely get hot.”

That comment probably will not sit well with Eagles fans, and Eagles running back Saquon Barkley mentioned that in his comments: “Probably not the smartest thing to say coming to Philadelphia. … Probably would not give them extra fuel,” he said.

He’s right about that. If anyone knows the history of the Eagles and their fans, they know it’s probably not the smartest thing to say — and Verse is going to hear from them loud and clear during the game this weekend.

The History of Philadelphia Eagles Fans

Eagles fans are probably one of the most hated and roughest fan bases in the NFL, and they don’t take any mess off of anyone. Keep in mind, these are the same fans who booed and threw snowballs at Santa Claus once at a game.

The incident has gone down in Eagles lore and is a testimony of how cruel their fan base can be.

According to the story, the team brought out Santa during halftime of the game against the Minnesota Vikings in the 1968 season to cheer the fans up since the team was having a miserable season (they were 2-11 at the time). Fans weren’t in the mood and not only booed Santa but threw snowballs at him.

We all know the Eagles and Dallas Cowboys hate one another, and the hate reached its hype back in the 1999 season when the Cowboys and Eagles played and Cowboys wide receiver Michael Irvin got hurt and some Eagle fans cheered his injury.

This incident even had some city leaders call out the fan base after the incident. To say that Verse probably made the biggest mistake of his career may be an understatement — because win or lose, Verse is probably going to be lucky to get out of Philadelphia without too many issues.
