Chicago Bears fans are rallying behind a familiar face as former All-Pro tight end Greg Olsen openly expressed interest in a coaching role with his former team. The Bears, currently searching for a new head coach, are exploring all possibilities, and Olsen’s latest statements have sparked excitement among fans eager for a bold move.
Greg Olsen Forwards Candidature for Bears Head Coach Job
Olsen appeared on ESPN’s “Waddle & Silvy,” making a compelling case for himself as a fresh voice in NFL coaching. He said, “I think sometimes the NFL and these teams need to take a step back and say, ‘OK, there are some fresh ideas out there.'”
“I’ve had a really unique perspective from this chair about what goes into winning in the NFL, combined with 14 years of playing and being in locker rooms and being on teams in the Super Bowl and being on teams that didn’t make the playoffs and understanding why certain teams took different paths,” Olsen explained.
While he lacks coaching experience, Olsen believes his insights and leadership could be a game-changer for an NFL franchise. Fans on social media are already buzzing with calls for the Bears to bring Olsen in for an interview. One fan wrote, “Hire him now.”

Another said, “Wow… honestly, bring him in before someone else does and he turns into NFL exec of the year or something…lol! Lets go!”
“Bring him in! ASAP,” shared one more.
“Absolutely gr8 interview! George needs to make Olsen the GM or President of Football Guruness!” commented another, referring to Bears chairman George Halas McCaskey.
One X (formerly known as twitter) user posted, “do right by Greg Olsen this time around. Should have never been given up in the first place. Worst decision ever back then, make the right one this time!!”
The timing could be perfect, as Olsen has faced a professional shake-up with his demotion at Fox in favor of Tom Brady. Olsen remains passionate about broadcasting, and he’s left the door wide open for a coaching or front-office role, saying, “I’d put my experience in NFL circles up there with anybody over the last 20 years.”
Olsen also said, “Every year head coaches, coordinators, position coaches get turned around this NFL cycle, and everyone’s hired off experience. Then how come all these experienced guys end up having to find new jobs, right? If experience was everything, no one would ever get fired because all these guys have been doing this for a long time.”
The 14-year NFL veteran, who spent four seasons with the Bears (2007-10), shared the unique perspective he gained from his playing career and his current role as a Fox Sports analyst. Olsen’s credentials are nothing short of impressive. During his time with the Carolina Panthers (2011-2019), he became the first tight end in NFL history to record three consecutive 1,000-yard seasons.
A three-time Pro Bowler, Olsen possesses a deep understanding of team dynamics. His playing in Super Bowls and endured playoff misses add to his appeal of turning toward a person who can handle pressure.
The Bears’ search, led by general manager Ryan Poles, includes a long list of candidates ranging from seasoned head coaches like Ron Rivera to innovative coordinators such as Detroit Lions OC Ben Johnson.
While Olsen hasn’t formally entered the mix, fans believe his fresh perspective could align with the team’s rebuild. Whether or not the Bears seriously consider Olsen, his willingness to return to Chicago and bring innovative ideas to the NFL coaching ranks can be a turning point for the Bears.
