Detroit Lions Had a Hilarious Response to Viral Video of 31-Pound Baby

The Detroit Lions social media team outdid themselves with this hilarious one-word response to a viral video of a 31-pound, six-month-old baby.

The Detroit Lions have drafted as well as any team in the NFL in recent years. The team has built its Super Bowl-contending roster primarily through the NFL Draft, a healthy strategy for building a dominant unit. Aidan Hutchinson, Brian Branch, and Jahmyr Gibbs, to name a few, have all heavily contributed to the Lions’ stunning rise in recent seasons.

However, the team took things to a whole new level this week when commenting on a California mother’s TikTok video about her hefty baby.

99th Percentile for Everything — Lions Respond to Viral Baby Video

When Madison Peltzer (@madisonpeltzer on TikTok) posted a video of her enormous 31-pound baby, it naturally went viral.

The video’s caption claims that the baby is “in the 99th percentile for everything,” which interested the Lions TikTok admin team.

The Lions, who’s physical style of play could potentially be a good fit for the six-month-old, were quick to act. Among the thousands of comments on the video, the one-word response from the NFC North champions stands out: “Dibs.”

Peltzer then responded to the comment with another video, which read: “Give us a few years and we’re there”.

On Thursday, Jan. 16, Peltzer posted another video that stated that her child was only nine pounds and two ounces at birth, meaning her baby has grown almost 22 pounds in just six months.

Of course, the Lions cannot actually draft the baby, as he is not eligible for another … say … 20 years.

    All Hands on Deck

The Lions have out-performed almost every other team in the NFL in recent drafts, perhaps this “all hands on deck” approach to scouting is their secret.

The team faces the Washington Commanders in the Divisional Round on Saturday, Jan. 18, 2025, at 8 p.m. ET on Fox in their first playoff game of the season. Fresh off a first-round bye, Detroit heads into the weekend as huge favorites to reach the NFC Championship Game to face the winner of the Los Angeles Rams at Philadelphia Eagles. The Lions will know their potential opponent before they kick off themselves.

With both Aaron Glenn and Ben Johnson interviewing for head coaching jobs around the league, this year might be Detroit’s best chance at a Super Bowl for the foreseeable future. Beyond that, the team appears to have at least one eye on the future. Is it too early to trade for 2045 draft picks?
