‘Travis Hunter Hands Down’ – Giants Fans Conflicted Over Heisman Winner vs. Abdul Carter Decision

    Published on

In a scenario where Shedeur Sanders and Cam Ward are off the board, Giants fans debated the merits of drafting Travis Hunter or Abdul Carter.

Colorado Buffaloes two-way star Travis Hunter won the Heisman Trophy this season after a dominant year. He is projected to be a top-five pick in the draft and is viewed by many as the best player overall. However, his chances of getting drafted first are not high because the Tennessee Titans are likely to take a quarterback. As a result, teams like the New York Giants could have the opportunity to draft Hunter.

Giants Fans Debate Whether Travis Hunter or Abdul Carter Is the Better Pick

The Giants have been linked to both quarterbacks Cam Ward and Shedeur Sanders. However, since the Giants have the third overall pick, there is a chance that both will be taken when they have their first pick.

With no clear-cut third-best quarterback in the draft, the Giants could pick a skill-position player in that scenario.

Giants fans debated on X whether it would be better to take Hunter or Penn State edge rusher Abdul Carter in that spot. Many fans thought Hunter was the better option.

“Travis Hunter hands down. You play him at CB but he gives you the option of putting him in on offense at WR if you so desire whether as a mainstay or in limited opportunities,” one fan wrote.

“THunter would be my guy. Question is should he try 2 way in the NFL or perfect and focus one one? Honestly wondering,” one fan commented.

“Hunter is a better athlete and better player, but CB’s don’t have the impact Edge rushers do. A dominant Edge can literally wreck an entire game,” one fan added.

Other fans said they would prefer to draft Carter.

“Carter!!!! Not even thinking about it!! I have Graham ahead of Hunter too!! 1) not sure what position Hunter is going to play 2) I think I have Johnson ranked higher on CB rankings too,” one fan wrote.

“Abdul Carter he’s more impactful when i watched last game he was all over the field reminded me of Micah Parsons he’s a disruptor I know it is not a position of need but players like that you draft them and find a spot,” one fan commented.

“Carter, edge is such a premium position nowadays. If we can roll 3 edges all pretty good, Kayvon, Burns, Carter. We can be disruptive in the backfield and build out the defense from there. Corners are hard to hit on and can bust. Go for veteran corners IMO,” one fan added.

Whether the Giants draft one of those two players or a quarterback will likely come down to whether the Cleveland Browns select a quarterback with the second pick.
