It’s being reported that Texas Longhorns quarterback Quinn Ewers will be declaring for the 2025 NFL Draft. Over the past few weeks, there had been rumors that Ewers was considering his options at the college level, including the possibility of transferring to another program. However, despite the speculative interest by some top college football programs, Ewers is declaring his name for the NFL.
Ewers is in a weird spot with talented QB prospect Arch Manning waiting in the wings in Texas. With his announcement, football fans have taken to social media to discuss where they see Ewers being drafted come April.
Quinn Ewers NFL Draft Update
The popular football X profile “NFL Rookie Watch” detailed how Ewers was most likely going to declare for the NFL Draft despite legitimate interest from college powerhouses, including UNC, Oregon, Notre Dame, Alabama, and Ohio State. It also detailed where NFL scouts view Ewers as a prospect.
“Many NFL scouts reportedly believe Ewers needs to have ‘elite pre-draft workouts’ to even have a chance at being a second round pick.”

Finally, one person took a different tone and explained how they did not view Ewers as anything more than a Day 3 pick.
“Not sure who is advising him but I see a third day draft pick if that,” they said.

Ewers’ 2025 NFL Draft Projection
Ewers had a solid campaign for the Longhorns this year, having accumulated 3,472 passing yards, 31 passing touchdowns, and 12 interceptions. In Pro Football Network’s recent 7-round 2025 NFL Mock Draft, Ewers was selected as the replacement to Russell Wilson, No. 59 overall, by the Pittsburgh Steelers.
“Russell Wilson may have exceeded expectations for the Steelers so far this year, but they’ll inevitably need to find his long-term successor, and Justin Fields may prove too expensive for Pittsburgh to want to retain as a backup.
“Selecting Quinn Ewers would give the Steelers a strong-armed passer with ample upside while still being able to use your first-round pick on other needs. The flashes have been there to project Ewers as an NFL starter, even if he might not be ready right away.”
