The New York Jets could undergo a complete transformation this offseason, as at the very least, a new head coach will lead the charge. There’s also the potential for a new quarterback and No. 1 wide receiver.
The quarterback situation remains a complete mystery, with Aaron Rodgers’ future up in the air. It’s possible he will return to New York, goes elsewhere, or even retires.
As for the Jets’ top WR, that title belongs to Garrett Wilson, who was visibly frustrated with the organization toward the end of the year. If he requests a trade, that leaves Davante Adams as the strongest receiving threat, and he is likely a package deal with Rodgers.
This should turn the Jets’ front office’s attention to the NFL Draft.
Jets Predicted To Select Tetairoa McMillan at No. 7
Finding a franchise quarterback is obviously a priority for every organization, but this may not be the draft to do so. After Miami’s Cam Ward and Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders, there’s a steep drop-off in the position group. Instead, the Jets could look to bring in a star wide receiver guaranteed to be on their roster next season.
In his latest mock draft, Pro Football Network’s Alan Goldsher predicted New York to select Arizona Wildcats wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan at No. 7.
“Davante Adams is aging, Garrett Wilson wants out, and Aaron Rodgers’ replacement (maybe) will need a security blanket of a pass catcher who actually wants to wear green and white. While not Malik Nabers-level scary, Tetairoa McMillan is a safe bet who will make an immediate impact,” Goldsher wrote.
Goldsher also eluded to McMillan’s impressive stats, with the Arizona WR totaling 1,319 receiving yards from 84 receptions and eight touchdowns in 2024.
McMillan’s Draft Profile and Measurements
- Height: 6’5″
- Weight: 210 pounds
- Position: Wide Receiver
- School: Arizona
- Current Year: Junior
Born in Waimānalo, Hawaii, McMillan played football at Servite High School in Anaheim, California, where his gifts quickly drew the spotlight. As a senior, he caught 88 passes for 1,302 yards and 18 touchdowns, earning high four-star and fringe five-star appeal.
An All-American Bowl attendee and the Polynesian Football Player of the Year, McMillan fielded interest from many highly regarded programs, but he chose to join the Wildcats under Jedd Fisch.
In doing so, McMillan became Arizona’s highest-rated signing ever. He was also able to reunite with his good friend and high school QB, Noah Fifita.
From that point onward, McMillan — known colloquially as “T-Mac” — has done nothing but confirm his recruitment billing and pedigree.
In Arizona’s very first game of the 2024 campaign against New Mexico, McMillan put together a 2016 Julio Jones-esque performance, racking up 10 catches for 304 yards and four touchdowns. That kind of domination is often reserved only for early-round talents.
That’s the kind of talent McMillan is: The talent who can take over a game at a moment’s notice.
