ESPN NFL analyst Stephen A. Smith believes that Deion Sanders will accept the Dallas Cowboys' head coach job if offered by Jerry Jones.

Popular sports personality Stephen A. Smith believes Deion Sanders will accept the Dallas Cowboys’ head coaching job if owner Jerry Jones offers it. Smith made the statement on an episode of the popular show “First Take,” during which Smith, Shannon Sharpe, Jeff Saturday, and Molly Qerim discussed the news of Mike McCarthy’s contract not being extended and the reported phone call between Sanders and Jones about the vacancy.

Though Sanders acknowledged on Monday evening that he and Jones had a phone call about the job, he also reaffirmed his commitment to the University of Colorado Boulder and the Buffaloes football program.

Stephen A. Smith’s Assessment of the Deion Sanders, Dallas Cowboys Rumors

As ESPN analyst Adam Schefter reported, “To hear from Jerry Jones is truly delightful, and it’s intriguing. I love Jerry and believe in Jerry. After you hang up, and process it, and think about it, it’s intriguing. But I love Boulder and everything there is about our team, the coaches, our student body and the community.”

Smith detailed his belief that despite outlining his commitment to remaining in Colorado, Sanders would take the Cowboys’ head coach role if it was offered to him by Jones.

Smith was emphatic in his belief.

“If Jerry Jones offers Deion Sanders this job, Deion Sanders gon’ take it,” Smith stated.

Will Sanders Leave the Colorado Buffaloes?

Sanders has been quite consistent with his approach to discussions surrounding his future, namely highlighting his intention of staying with the Buffaloes. However, there is no question that the platform the Cowboys offer is one of the most intriguing in all of professional sports.

If there were a team that could take Sanders away from the Buffaloes before he planned to leave, it could be the Cowboys. Coach Prime played for “America’s Team” and under Jones during his playing career. Furthermore, the Cowboys offer the largest national coverage and platform out of any team in the National Football League. As a result, any type of former success in Dallas would make Sanders even more of a legend than he already is.

In addition to this, the Cowboys have young star players who could thrive and develop even further under the guidance of Coach Prime. CeeDee Lamb and Micah Parsons are two of the best players at their respective positions and could continue to grow and develop under Sanders.
