While “Big Swagu” is undoubtedly great at breaking down defensive schemes accessibly for viewers, there will be question marks about his ability to take on a head coaching role for America’s Team given his lack of experience.
Who Are the Top Dallas Cowboys HC Candidates?
A New York Times survey of NFL coaches recently revealed that the Cowboys are being viewed as the top HC destination this offseason. Given the history and tradition of “America’s Team,” there will undoubtedly be many strong candidates in contention.
Deion Sanders has admitted to being “intrigued” by the prospect of joining ranks with Jones. However, Coach Prime also professed his commitment to the Colorado Buffaloes in the same breath.
Detroit Lions offensive Ben Johnson is considered the top candidate available this offseason. Johnson’s innovative schemes have bolstered the offense, helping them land the No. 1 seed in the NFC. Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn has earned interviews, too.
Washington Commanders offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury is another name often linked to the Cowboys. Kingsbury has helped Jayden Daniels put together a phenomenal rookie season in 2024 and has head coaching experience with the Arizona Cardinals.
Dallas finished the 2024 season ranked 24th in Pro Football Network’s power rankings, falling to 22nd by Offense+ and 26th by Defense+. Whoever earns the job has a tall task ahead of them, although quarterback Dak Prescott’s return from injury should make life easier.
