Sean McVay’s Case Gets Stronger After Rams’ Wild Card Domination

After the Rams dismantled the Vikings in a 27–9 Wild Card smackdown, NFL analyst Kyle Brandt jumped on X (formerly known as Twitter) to drop this gem: “Sean McVay is the best coach in the NFL.”

Big words sure, but McVay’s got the résumé to back it up. The Rams’ fearless leader rolled into L.A. at just 30, snatched a Coach of the Year title in his first season, and turned a stale franchise into a perennial playoff machine. With an 80-52 record, seven playoff wins, and a Super Bowl ring in his pocket, McVay’s a living highlight reel in a headset.

Let’s not forget his history-making moments. Youngest head coach to hit the Super Bowl? Check. Youngest to win it all? Double check. His offense reinvented the Rams, but his genius is in his adaptability, evolving playbooks to keep defenses guessing.

But, and there’s always a “but,” retirement whispers cling to McVay like a second shadow. With aging stars like Matthew Stafford and Cooper Kupp anchoring his squad, fans can’t help but ask: Is this playoff run McVay’s swan song?

For now, Brandt’s take feels less like hype and more like prophecy.

Tyler Higbee’s playoff journey hit a bump. After a nasty chest injury against the Vikings, the tight end ended up in the hospital. But don’t panic just yet — McVay says, “I think he’s going to be ok.” (Big sigh of relief there.)

Higbee went down early in the second quarter and was quickly ruled out for the game. Before heading out, though, he managed five grabs for 58 yards.

This wasn’t just any game for Higbee, either. It was his fourth game this season after a brutal ACL and MCL tear in last year’s Wild Card loss to the Detroit Lions. But after grinding through rehab and making his return in December, Higbee’s been showing flashes — eight catches, 66 yards, and two TDs in three games back. Not bad for someone who’s been through the wringer.

He’s put in the work, even on those tough days when rehab was the only thing on the schedule.
