‘That Is a Major Splash’ – 2-Time Super Bowl Winner Wants NFL Teams Knocking on Deion Sanders’ Door

    Published on

Two-time Super Bowl winner LeSean McCoy makes a worthwhile case why NFL teams should convince Deion Sanders to leave Colorado to join them.

Like his playing days, Deion Sanders has been a revelation in his head coaching as well. Coach Prime has time and again stated that he will not be leaving the Colorado Buffaloes for a job in the NFL. But that’s not stopping two-time Super Bowl champion LeSean McCoy from imploring NFL teams to convince Sanders to join them.

LeSean McCoy Wants NFL Teams To Make Big Statement by Hiring Deion Sanders

Sanders has transformed the Buffaloes, and his exploits have made him a wanted man in the NFL. Yet, according to him, he’s staying put…at least for now.

Meanwhile, McCoy wants franchises to go all-out for Sanders. During his appearance on FS1’s “The Facility,” the former running back made his case.

“I would say yes,” he said on whether Coach Prime should leave Colorado. “If this was possible, I would love to see this.”

“You know, when you get a new year head coach, you’re always trying to make a splash, right? You always want to tell your fans, look, we’re getting this coach for the future. And you want to have a bright spot there, right? And I think if you bring a guy like Deion Sanders prime time, that is a major splash.”

McCoy later stated that for the fans and the media, it would be a great story if Sanders could coach the same team that ends up drafting his son(s). He likened it to NBA superstar LeBron James playing basketball with his son, Bronny James.

Sanders Highlights Only Way He Will Coach in NFL

On the Thursday, Jan. 9 episode of “Good Morning America,” Sanders stated that he is “99% sure” that Colorado’s bowl game would be the last time he’ll get to coach his sons. Building on top of that, the 57-year-old stated the only way he could be convinced to coach in the NFL.

“You know what? The only way I would consider it is to coach my sons,” Sanders said.

His two sons — Shedeur Sanders and Shilo Sanders — will be in the 2025 NFL Draft class. Shedeur is being touted as a potential top-three pick, while Shilo’s case is not crystal clear.

Before leaving, the elder Sanders reiterated his love for Colorado, saying, “I love Colorado. I love everything we’re building. I love what we’re doing, and I love Boulder, Colorado.”
