Seven-time Super Bowl champion and minority Raiders owner Tom Brady is reportedly playing a role in the search for the next head coach.

Tom Brady and the Las Vegas Raiders are hitting the reset button, sweeping both their head coach and general manager positions after a 4-13 season. Following Antonio Pierce’s firing just a day after expressing confidence in his return and the dismissal of GM Tom Telesco on Jan. 9, the Raiders are on the hunt for a new direction.

Tom Brady Is Pulling Strings in His Capacity As Raiders Minority Owner

Their search for a new head coach will be the franchise’s fifth coach in as many years, signaling why the team struggles to gain stability. The firing of key front-office figures is big news, but Brady’s influence behind the scenes is making the noise.

The seven-time Super Bowl champion and minority Raiders owner is reportedly playing a role in the search for the next head coach. According to NFL insider Dianna Russini, Brady’s involvement is already bringing results. Ben Johnson, the offensive coordinator for the Detroit Lions, has agreed to interview with the Raiders.

Johnson’s star continues to rise. Under his leadership, the Lions’ offense has consistently ranked in the top five since 2022. His focus on improving the Lions’ explosive offense has caught the attention of multiple teams, with the Raiders among the front-runners.

The 2025 cycle sees Johnson interviewing with several teams, including the Patriots, Bears, and Jaguars, but Brady’s connection might give the Raiders a real edge.

As one of the limited owners in the Raiders organization, Brady is eager to ensure the franchise makes the right hire.

His former teammate Rob Gronkowski revealed Brady’s desire for an offensive-minded head coach, emphasizing that the NFL G.O.A.T wants to collaborate with someone who speaks the same football language.

“He wants someone who aligns with his vision for what the offense needs to do,” Gronkowski said on the “Up & Adams” show.

“I think Tom will enjoy the process more being able to talk to an offensive-minded coach as well, to give his opinion on what the offense needs to do. … I feel like that he will be in the mix, and his paws, like you said, will be in it, and he’ll be given his two cents, and they’ll be listening to his two cents as well,” Gronk added.

Another intriguing candidate on Brady’s list is Bill Belichick. Reports suggest that the legendary QB has been in contact with his former New England Patriots coach, who took a head coaching job at the University of North Carolina.

While it may seem far-fetched, Belichick’s $10 million buyout clause is surprisingly affordable, especially after June 1, which could open the door for a quick return to the NFL. Brady and Belichick share a connection that could make this reunion possible for the Raiders.

As the coaching carousel continues, the Raiders are up against the clock. The competition will be fierce, and other teams — such as the Bears, Patriots, and Jets — will also be searching for a head coach.
