Agent Drew Rosenhaus appeared on “The Pat McAfee Show” on Thursday. The show took place live from Hard Rock Stadium, where the Orange Bowl is set to take place on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. ET. Rosenhaus talked about all kinds of things, including a flaw in the new NIL system compared to what the NFL has to offer.
Agent Drew Rosenhaus Compares the NIL System to the NFL
When Drew Rosenhaus arrived on “The Pat McAfee Show,” he was greeted by the entire show. Former NFL player AJ Hawk quickly asked him about navigating being an agent for college football players in the new NIL landscape.
Rosenhaus discussed the issues the new system has created. Notably, he mentioned that there are no rules because the system is still in its infancy.
“They are year to year. So players right now are professional football players in college. They get a new contract every year. There’s free agency every year. There is no salary cap. There are no rules. The ability to transfer is almost unlimited. Guys getting paid coming out of high school. I love it, I’m for the players.”
"These NIL contracts are year to year and there is free agency every year with no salary cap..
In any system we need structure and every other professional league has rules..
This doesn't exist in College Football and it's very chaotic" ~ @DrewJRosenhaus #PMSLive pic.twitter.com/pgl5g0GeKW

He then went on to compare the NIL system to other sports leagues, including the NFL. He talked about how other leagues are structured in everything they do, from the draft to free agency and contract signing.
“But in every system we need structure. Every other professional league has rules. We have a cap, we have a structure, we have a draft order, we have waivers, we have trade deadlines. This doesn’t exist in college football, so it is very chaotic.”
Although the NFL has unique salary cap rules, it still has strict rules that all teams must follow. Players enter free agency at a specific window, contracts must follow a strict set of guidelines, and they cannot be terminated unless there are extenuating circumstances.
If anyone is qualified to compare the college football and NFL contract systems, it is Drew Rosenhaus. He represents several college and NFL players, most notably wide receiver Tyreek Hill of the Miami Dolphins.
While he was on the show, he also discussed Hill’s remarks after the Dolphins’ last game of the season that he wanted to leave. However, he shut down the idea, stating that Hill is happy in Miami.
