The reigning Heisman Trophy winner was a sensation under head coach Deion Sanders. Sanders’ guidance really elevated Hunter’s performance at wide receiver and cornerback. The 21-year-old amassed 1,258 receiving yards, 15 touchdowns, and four interceptions in 2024.

Speaking on “The Travis Hunter Show,” Hunter shared why attending the draft in person is so important for him. “If I’m the No. 1 pick, I only get to walk that stage one time with a smile on my face,” Hunter said. “First person in my family to do it, oh, I’m definitely doing it.”

His excitement contrasts with that of Colorado teammate Shedeur Sanders, who plans to skip the draft ceremony to celebrate in Colorado instead.

“My draft plans — I think we’re doing it in Colorado. I’m not going to the draft [in Green Bay]. I don’t know too many details about it, but I know it’s going to be in Colorado; that’s all I know,” Sanders said on the ‘2Legendary podcast.’

Even Coach Prime won’t be at the 2025 NFL Draft, unlike the Heisman Trophy event, where he was right in front of Hunter to celebrate his big moment.

“You won’t see us (at the draft). We’re good man. We want to celebrate with our people, with our folks, with our wonderful student body,” said the Colorado HC on “The Rich Eisen Show.”

Hunter’s path to the draft has been nothing short of extraordinary. Playing over 1,300 snaps in 2024, he proved himself as a game-changer on both sides of the ball. His versatility has NFL teams buzzing to acquire his services.

Mock drafts project him to go early, with quarterbacks like Miami’s Cam Ward and Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders also in the conversation for the top spots.

Despite the draft pick and his landing spot, questions remain about Hunter’s future in the NFL. Will teams prioritize him as a wide receiver, a cornerback, or both?

The Cleveland Browns are heavy favorites to go for Hunter. Later in his podcast, Hunter joked about Zillow’s research and how it keeps changing.

The draft is a few months away, set in April, but Hunter’s confidence remains high. Whether he walks the stage as the first or second pick, his NFL career will be one to watch as he makes his family proud.
