After repeatedly making his stance clear about wanting to stay in Boulder amid rumors of him transitioning to NFL coaching, Coach Prime has now given a sliver of hope to league franchises that may want to recruit him.
With his sons, Shilo and Shedeur Sanders, ready to take part in the 2025 NFL Draft, Deion stipulated that the only way he would leave the Colorado Buffaloes and coach an NFL team would be if the same team selected both Shilo and Shedeur.
Fans React to Coach Prime Suggesting a Chance at NFL Coaching
In an ABC interview on Jan. 8, Coach Prime was asked if there was a chance that he could go to the NFL. He replied: “You know what, the only way I would consider is to coach my sons. Not son. Sons.”

Fans were excited about the possibility of Prime Time returning to the NFL and flooded X with their reactions.
“So much respect for Deon. Great Leader, Coach, and Father,” a fan said.
“No one can be mad at that 🤷🏽♂️,” a fan wrote.
“Family over everything!” another fan chimed in.
However, one fan was not happy about the idea as they mentioned Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones’ potential interest in Deion for the head coaching position, and how he might want to draft Shedeur and Shilo just to hire Coach Prime.
“Hope Jerry didn’t hear that 🙄,” the fan said.
Right now, Shedeur is projected to be an early first-round pick, while safety Shilo’s draft outlook is much less certain, possibly as a Day 3 pick or even undrafted. As for Coach Prime to join an NFL team, that franchise would need to draft both of his sons. However, many teams at the top of the draft don’t need a QB or are already in contract with their head coaches.
The Tennessee Titans, who hold the first pick, might select a QB in Shedeur or Miami’s Cam Ward, but they already have a head coach, so Deion wouldn’t be able to coach there. The Cleveland Browns, New York Giants, and New England Patriots either don’t need a coach (Browns, Giants) or a QB (Patriots).
In light of this, a fan said, “So in other words, 0% chance.”
While a family reunion seems like a long shot, it’s not impossible. The Las Vegas Raiders, with the No. 6 pick, are looking for both a new head coach and a quarterback. This makes them the most probable team where Shedeur and Shilo could both end up and where Deion might consider coaching.
“Deion to vegas confirmed,” a fan wrote.
Per Pro Football Network’s latest mock draft by Reese Decker, Shedeur is off to Tennessee as the No. 1 overall pick, filling in the role of their long-term answer at QB.
“Sanders has a live arm capable of layering throws with pinpoint accuracy and precision. His strong, balanced lower body allows him to fend off pressure and deliver accurate off-platform throws. Whether operating in rhythm or improvising off-schedule, Sanders excels. His pocket mobility and ability to extend plays with his legs, paired with his toughness and grit, make him an ideal fit to be the first player off the board on draft night.”
