The Las Vegas Raiders are working around the clock in the search for their next head coach, and NFL legend Tom Brady, now a minority owner of the franchise, might have a say in the process.
Following the firing of Antonio Pierce after a rocky 4-13 season, rumors are gaining traction about Brady’s potential involvement in shaping the team’s future.
Tom Brady Prefers ‘Offensive-Minded’ Coach per Rob Gronkowski
Brady’s former teammate, Rob Gronkowski, believes the seven-time Super Bowl champion has a clear preference when it comes to the type of coach he wants. Speaking on the ‘Up and Adams Show,’ Gronk shared his insights into Brady’s mindset, asserting that the G.O.A.T. quarterback would lean toward hiring an offensive-minded leader.
“He loves defense and knows it wins championships,” Gronkowski admitted. “But with Tom being the greatest quarterback of all time, he wants someone who speaks his language—offense. He’d enjoy collaborating with a coach who aligns with his vision for what the offense needs to do.
“I think Tom will enjoy the process more being able to talk to an offensive-minded coach as well, to give his opinion on what the offense needs to do. … I feel like that he will be in the mix, and his paws, like you said, will be in it, and he’ll be given his two cents, and they’ll be listening to his two cents as well,” Gronk added.

Brady’s influence in the franchise’s decisions is unclear, as he owns a five-percent stake in the Raiders. However, speculation has ramped up that Brady wants to reunite with his New England Patriots coach, Bill Belichick. The duo, who won six Super Bowls together with the Patriots, can start a new era in Las Vegas if this move comes to fruition.
However, the chances of Belichick coaching the Raiders next season are bleak, given the 72-year-old committed to his new role at the collegiate level, becoming the head coach of the University of North Carolina. “I didn’t come here to leave,” stated Belichick after accepting his role at UNC.
Nonetheless, NFL fans hope to see the Brady-Belichick era in Las Vegas because of a new Tar Heels HC clause allowing him to return to the NFL. However, the $10 million buyout until June 2025 makes an immediate reunion with Brady unlikely.
The Raiders are said to prioritize leadership and stability for a team in desperate need of direction. Brady, who has built a reputation for his meticulous preparation and competitive drive, is expected to play a crucial role in vetting candidates. NFL insider Tom Pelissero revealed, “Brady believes the situation in Las Vegas requires a coach of Belichick’s expertise to establish a sustainable winning program.”
While Brady’s involvement raises optimism about the franchise’s future, some pundits wonder if his presence might deter potential candidates. A hands-on owner with Brady’s football IQ could be a blessing and a challenge for any incoming coach. The Raiders’ search continues, with names like Pete Carroll, Brian Flores, and Todd Monken reportedly on the radar.
