What Does Cam Ward’s Pregame Routine Entail?

Ward manages to fit aspects of multiple sports into his pregame workout.

Before each game, Ward begins his warmup by dribbling a football as if it were a basketball. He dribbles the ball through his legs and behind his back. Next, he does a full lap of the field before taking some time and using a foam roller.

From there, he begins using stretch bands to focus on his shoulders and upper body. Ward ends his routine by taking some baseball swings before finally throwing a football.

Though many college football and NFL players have interesting pregame routines, it is evident that Ward’s is among the most unique.

It is also clear that whatever Ward is doing is working. Not only has he emerged as a top collegiate passer and greatly improved his NFL Draft stock; but he also finished as a Heisman finalist and helped Miami win 10 games.

Cam Ward 2025 NFL Draft Projection

According to Pro Football Network’s recent 2025 NFL Mock Draft, Ward could be selected No. 4 overall by the Tennessee Titans.

“If the current draft order holds, they might land Cam Ward,” Alex Kennedy wrote. “The playmaking QB has displayed his creation capacity and big-play potential, and he has improved his leadership, accuracy, and ball security. He has also progressed as a pocket operator and field general, operating more frequently pre-snap and playing with more decisiveness and efficiency on multiple levels.

“Ward is undeniably talented, making some of the hardest throws look effortless. His elite composite arm talent allows him to layer passes into incredibly tight windows. He’s a danger as a passer from any platform, inside or outside of structure, and his arm elasticity is perfectly attuned to the modern game.”

Given his stretch of success, rising from Incarnate Word to Washington State, Miami, and soon the NFL, fans can expect to see Ward flashing his multi-sport skill set at the next level.
