‘Absolutely Not’ – Bears Fans Make Feelings Known on Pete Carroll After Super Bowl Winner’s Interest in HC Job

    Published on

After stepping away from the Seahawks, Pete Carroll is allegedly eyeing Chicago's HC job, but Bears fans are having their say on the matter.

Pete Carroll cemented his legacy in the NFL with his 13-year stint with the Seattle Seahawks. However, after leaving the Seahawks in 2023, the 73-year-old is feeling the itch to wear his coaching shoes again.

Per the reports, the 2013 Super Bowl winner is eyeing a post with the Chicago Bears. Fans, however, did not shy away from sharing their displeasure at this prospect.

Bears Fans Do Not Want Pete Carroll at the Helm

Last month, Matt Eberflus was let go by the Bears after a disastrous clock mismanagement situation against the Detroit Lions was the last straw. Since then, Thomas Brown has picked up the interim head coaching responsibilities.

One Bears reporter took to X (formerly Twitter) to gauge fans’ responses over the possibility of Carroll leading the Bears next season.

“Would you like Pete Carroll to be the next head coach of the Bears?” he tweeted.

The fans unanimously disagreed with this scenario.

“No he’s past his prime,” replied one fan.

    “Absolutely not!” tweeted another.

“Nah. Need more stability after this year,” one fan added.

“Absolutely not. 73 years old. This is a joke, right?” another fan tweeted.

“I would be in favor of it was 10 years ago, or even 5. I think they need a younger coach,” added one more fan.

“Maybe 20 years ago. But no,” replied one fan.

Carroll Walks Back Words in Favor of Coaching Bears

Before the start of this season, Carroll was asked about getting back into the coaching world in an interview.

“I get asked a lot, so I’m pretty familiar with answering that I could coach tomorrow,” he said.

“I’m physically in the best shape I’ve been in a long time. I’m ready to be ready to do all the activities that I’m doing and feeling really good about it. I could, but I’m not desiring it at this point.”

Yet, per the new reports, Carroll is feeling the itch to be on the sidelines once again and has his eyes set on the Bears. Since retiring, Carroll has stayed with the Seahawks acting as an advisor to the franchise.
