NFL-bound Travis Hunter’s two-way campaign in 2024 saw him win the Heisman Trophy on Dec. 14. However, what was supposed to follow was days of elation, but it has instead been marred by criticism online, which is particularly directed at his fiancée, Leanna Lenee.
When Hunter was announced as the Heisman winner, Lenee chose not to stand immediately, wanting the moment to be all about him and his family, as she explained in a social media post. However, some people online misunderstood her actions, leading to backlash.
NFL Fans Step In To Support Travis Hunter and Fiancée
The situation turned into a storm when old videos from Lenee’s past relationships were shared online. This turned into her getting scrutinized further regarding whether their bond was real. This led to Hunter deactivating his Instagram account to avoid the growing hate.
With the situation getting out of hand, many fans have stepped in to defend both Hunter and Lenee.
“Leave this fu*** dude alone,” a fan said.
“Leave this women alone. I don’t get it,” another fan wrote.
“Just foul!! Leave that man alone,” a fan commented.
The supportive comments kept pouring in, with many calling out the invasive behavior.
“Oh no, she’s been with another man before? What a disgrace!” a fan sarcastically added.
“How about you leave him alone.” A fan said.
“It’s crazy that yall bringing up stuff that happened before they even got together, why can’t yall leave these people alone and let them live. Yall need to worry about yall own stuff and stop worrying about someone else’s life,” a fan wrote.
Last week, Hunter talked about how the hate is affecting him and Lenee, saying:
“They want me to be unhappy. They don’t want me to be in a relationship. … The comments and the people, you know, the hating, the hate that I’m getting. It’s draining. It’s draining for sure. … Every time I get on my phone, there’s something new that they are lying about. We are just a topic right now. It’s draining.”

The two met in high school, and last offseason, the dual-threat star popped the question, and Leanna said yes.
Amid the hostility, there is something to look forward to as Hunter is preparing to play in the Alamo Bowl against BYU on Dec. 28 with his Colorado team for one last time. After that, he’s off to the NFL, as PFN’s most recent mock draft has him projected to be selected as the No. 3 overall prospect by the New England Patriots.
