The Green Bay Packers won 34-0 against the New Orleans Saints on Monday Night Football in Week 16. It was by far the least competitive prime-time game of the season, as the Saints became the first team in the NFL this year to get shut out.
Fans on social media were not pleased with the quality of the product displayed this evening. They expressed their frustration and questioned the league as to why this game was not flexed.
NFL Fans Sound Off on Packers vs. Saints Game on MNF
Here’s how the fans reacted to the Packers’ blowout win against the Saints:
“This the worst MNF game of all time why was this not flexed?” said one fan.
Another fan added, “Worst prime-time game (SNF/MNF) I’ve seen in a minute.”
Packers fans already bored with this Saints game 😅

“It takes some real lack of brain cells to not flex that game out of Monday Night Football,” wrote a fan.
“0 Points on Monday Night Football is CRAZY!” added another fan.
I genuinely believe the saints should be punished by the league for so clearly not even trying to do anything in this game, it’s painfully obvious and not sure why the NFL kept this game for Monday Night Football

The Saints were without several key players for the game against the Packers. Derek Carr, Chris Olave, Alvin Kamara, Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Taysom Hill, and Rashid Shaheed were all out injured, and the league should probably have flexed this fixture, though they may not have had the opportunity given the short notice and the limits on games that can be flexed.
The Packers were no match for the Saints, and many saw this type of result coming. Fortunately for the fans, we have games between key AFC figures — Kansas City Chiefs-Pittsburgh Steelers and Baltimore Ravens-Houston Texans — to look forward to on Christmas.
As for the Saints, this type of result further makes it clear as to why the team may need to tear down their roster and start a rebuild with a new head coach. Spencer Rattler hasn’t inspired confidence that he’s their quarterback of the future, so they have some tough decisions to make in the upcoming offseason.
Packers Clinched a Playoff Spot With Win in Week 16
Everything went well for the Packers on Monday Night Football as they not only shut out their opponents but also clinched a playoff spot. The Packers are now 11-4 on the season and will potentially finish the regular season as the sixth seed in the NFC given the difficulty of their division.
They are currently slated to play the Los Angeles Rams in the Wild Card Round, and it will be a game worth looking forward to for even neutral fans. Both teams have great quarterbacks in Jordan Love and Matthew Stafford and an elite supporting cast. The two defenses have also played well this year, and both teams have the potential to go on a deep playoff run.
Love threw 11 interceptions in his first eight games of this season, but like last year, he has turned into a completely different quarterback since then. In his last five games, the Packers quarterback has thrown for 1,054 yards, eight touchdowns, and no interceptions, completing 65.1% of his throws with a passer rating of 112.3.
If Love continues to take care of the ball, the Packers have a defense good enough for the team to make a run at the Super Bowl. Matt LaFleur’s team surprised many with how they played in the postseason last year, and all eyes will be on them this year as they can ruin the season of the best teams in the NFC, like the Detroit Lions, Minnesota Vikings, and Philadelphia Eagles.
