‘Do Not Pay Brock Purdy’ – 49ers Fans Send Clear Message to John Lynch After 29–17 Loss to Dolphins

    Published on

The 49ers’ playoff dreams crumbled after the 29-17 loss to the Dolphins. Fans slammed Brock Purdy and his looming contract situation.

The San Francisco 49ers just crashed into a roadblock on their Super Bowl express, and fans are done. After a 29-17 loss to the Miami Dolphins, all roads lead to one culprit: Brock Purdy. The message for GM John Lynch couldn’t be louder: Do. Not. Pay. Him.

Think of this as the NFL version of handing the Infinity Gauntlet to the wrong guy. That’s how some fans feel about Purdy.

San Francisco 49ers’ Season Sinks: Penalties, Picks, and Playoff Bust

If you thought the 49ers’ season couldn’t get messier, Sunday’s 29–17 loss to the Dolphins just said hold my Gatorade.

Eleven penalties, a missed red-zone shot, a field goal that veered off like a bad shopping cart, and Purdy tossing a late-game interception that screamed nope. Sure, the QB logged 313 yards on 26 of 40 passing and two TDs, but that fourth-quarter pick was the dagger.

Tua Tagovailoa, though, ran a clinic for the Dolphins. He went 22/34 for 215 yards and a touchdown.

Deebo Samuel tried to drag the team back to relevance, channeling his 2021 self with 96 receiving yards and a bulldozing touchdown. George Kittle had a few highlight plays too, but the offensive penalties? Absolute drive-killers (cue Aaron Banks’ holding call).

The 49ers had a sliver of hope in the fourth, cutting the deficit to 19–17 with an Eric Saubert touchdown. But then Purdy’s interception happened. The Dolphins gleefully marched downfield and ended the game on a 10-point run.

Playoff dreams? Crushed. Fans? Livid. The once-hopeful Purdy era? On thin ice. As the 49ers stumble into the offseason with a losing record, GM Lynch and HC Kyle Shanahan face some big questions — and a fan base that isn’t shy about saying, don’t waste the cap space on Purdy.

Fans Demand: Don’t Bank on Brock Purdy

When the 49ers needed Purdy to deliver, fans believe he fumbled the bag — metaphorically, at least. The social media floodgates opened wide after Sunday’s loss, with takes hotter than a Miami sideline.

“Whatever y’all do @49ers, do not pay Brock Purdy,” declared one fan, echoing the sentiment that Purdy’s future with the 49ers shouldn’t come with a blockbuster contract.

Another fan chimed in, “I’ve tried telling y’all about Brock Purdy. INT on the first play of the drive. Better be careful how much you pay him.” That late-game interception was the ultimate frustration point.

Fans are not sold on Purdy’s price tag, adding, “Now how much they pay Brock Purdy is the only question. Anything above $45 to $50 million is a massive overpay, in my opinion.”

Others didn’t mince words about Purdy’s red-zone struggles. “What a choke by the 49er offense. Brock can’t lead the team in the red zone. Way too many FG attempts. Too few TDs engineered by Purdy.”

The most scathing? “I’d take Drake Maye over Brock Purdy… dude is such a fraud,” quipped one fan.

Fans pulled no punches, calling for major changes and warning: don’t bank on Purdy.
