Eagles’ Nick Sirianni Blasts Team Over ‘Sloppy’ Performance During Commanders Loss

    Published on

The Eagles’ quest for the No. 1 seed took a hit after a loss to the Commanders -- head coach Nick Sirianni didn't shy away from calling out mistakes.

The Philadelphia Eagles were soaring, but then they hit some serious turbulence. Head coach Nick Sirianni isn’t sugar-coating the crash landing after their “sloppy” showing against the Washington Commanders. The usually sharp Eagles? More like dull scissors on this day, and Sirianni wasted zero time calling them out.

With playoff dreams on the line, Sirianni’s fiery blast is a major wake-up call. Time to clean up the mess if the Eagles want to spread their wings again.

Eagles’ Streak Ends in Sloppy Loss: Nick Sirianni Lays Blame on Mistakes

The Eagles’ streak? Snapped. The Commanders walked away with a 36-33 win, and it wasn’t pretty for Philly. The moment Sirianni watched his 10-game winning streak crash and burn, you could almost hear his brain screaming, “This can’t be happening.” And he didn’t hold back after the game.

“Just sloppy,” Sirianni laid into his squad. And he wasn’t wrong. The Eagles couldn’t get out of their own way. The penalties? Check. Too many men on the field? Double check. And let’s not forget the fundamentals here — straight-up bad.

As Sirianni so eloquently put it, “When it’s sloppy with every piece of that, it’s always going to be on me as the head coach.” Sirianni’s definitely taking the blame, but you could feel the heat from the sidelines. No one’s getting a pass here.

Things got real messy after Jalen Hurts went into concussion protocol early in the first. The Eagles’ backup QB Kenny Pickett had to steer the ship in Hurts’ absence. And somehow, Pickett almost pulled it off.

The Eagles were hanging onto a 33-28 lead with less than two minutes left, but then the whole thing went to crap.

Enter Jayden Daniels. In case you missed it, he took that 33-28 lead and wiped it off with one game-winning drive. Jamison Crowder caught that final TD with six seconds left, and the Eagles were left gasping.

Sirianni? He didn’t mince words: “When you played a good football team like we did today, and you’re sloppy — regardless of how many turnovers you force, it’s going to be hard.”

Sure, they forced turnovers. Great. But when you’re facing penalties and bad execution, a turnover doesn’t fix much.

That said, can the Eagles bounce back? It’s one loss — but for a Super Bowl contender, it’s got fans nervous.

Jalen Hurts Out, Saquon Barkley Shut Down: Eagles’ Playoff Hopes Take a Hit

Losing Hurts to a concussion early was a major setback. And while Saquon Barkley came out hot with two quick TDs, the Commanders’ defense put the brakes on him after that. Barkley finished with just 41 yards on 22 carries after the first quarter — talk about getting shut down.

Barkley took the heat, admitting, “We didn’t do enough. We left a lot of plays out there, including myself. I’ve got to catch it. We’ve got to learn from this.”

The Eagles’ playoff dreams just took a hit, and it’s time to reevaluate.
