Championship week is here in most leagues, with Week 17 representing the culmination of fantasy football season.
With all 32 teams in action, managers have plenty of options to choose from to ensure they’re maximizing their lineups with a league championship on the line.
Below we take a look at a trio of kickers who would be strong streaming options with everything on the line.
Chase McLaughlin
Tampa Bay Buccaneers (vs. CAR)
Chase McLaughlin hasn’t had the most consistent work this season, but he’s made four field goals in two of his last four games heading into Week 16. One of those was in Week 13 at the Carolina Panthers, who have been one of the more favorable matchups for kickers all season.
The Panthers are allowing the fourth-most fantasy points per game to kickers in 2024. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are a little too efficient for McLaughlin to receive enough field goal attempts to be an elite fantasy kicker, but the right matchup makes him a playable streamer.
Even if Tampa Bay cashes in on the majority of its red-zone attempts, McLaughlin should receive plenty of scoring opportunities throughout the game. Coupled with a strong weather environment at this time of year, the Bucs’ kicker is a good option if available.
Chad Ryland
Arizona Cardinals (at LAR)
Chad Ryland plays in one of the higher-volume offenses for kickers from a fantasy perspective. The Arizona Cardinals have seen the fourth-highest percentage of their drives end in a field goal attempt this season, which has led to Ryland attempting multiple field goals in five straight games.
Now he’ll face a Los Angeles Rams team allowing the 10th-most fantasy points per game to kickers this season. SoFi Stadium also provides one of the friendlier environments for kickers given that weather won’t be a concern.
Ryland is rostered in fewer than 10% of both ESPN and Yahoo leagues, making him a widely available option. Given his reliable volume, his roster percentage should absolutely be higher by now.
Jason Myers
Seattle Seahawks (at CHI)
This one is weather-dependent, as late December in Chicago is always a dicey proposition. However, if the conditions don’t look too blustery, Jason Myers would be a strong pickup for this matchup.
After some inconsistent volume early in the season, Myers has attempted multiple field goals in four straight contests. While that’s not the best news for Seattle’s overall offensive health, it works well for Myers’ fantasy value.
The Chicago Bears allow the sixth-most fantasy points per game to kickers this season. Myers is rostered in 20% of Yahoo leagues and 17% of ESPN leagues, so he should be available even if you want to wait until after waivers clear to ensure the Chicago weather is manageable.
