Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter had a year most college football players could only dream of. Playing both sides of the ball, Hunter ensured to sweep almost all qualifiable awards except, of course, the Jim Thorpe Award. But even that honor, Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders is ready to give him.
Deion Sanders Teases Travis Hunter After 2-Way Star Comes To Steal What He Doesn’t Have
Hunter is known to come to Sanders’ Colorado office every once in a while and playfully steal anything he can get his hands on. During the season, Hunter stole Sanders’ sneakers, and now, even after winning the Heisman, he still wants more.
In the latest post shared by Coach Prime’s son, Deion Sanders Jr., Hunter can be seen entering the Buffaloes’ head coach’s office, where the coach was receiving a foot massage.
As he was looking around, Sanders teased Hunter, saying:
“It’s nothing to get. You got the Heisman; it’s nothing else to get,” Deion said.
Coach Prime response to Travis Hunter coming to steal out of his office :
“It ain’t nothing to get, You got the Heisman it’s nothing else to get” 😂

Hunter Sets High Standards Even Surpassing Deion Sanders HOF Career
Sanders, a Pro Football Hall of Famer who almost won everything there is to in his legendary career as a punt returner and cornerback.
In college, in 1988, while playing for Florida State, he won the Jim Thorpe Award. In the NFL, Sanders won two Super Bowls, became an eight-time Pro Bowler, a six-time first-team All-Pro, and the 1994 NFL Defensive Player of the Year.
That’s some legacy to match, but Hunter is ready for it.
“I just want to be better than him,” Hunter said in a recent interview with ESPN. “Me getting hurt last year was a little setback for my stat sheet and how my career went last year. So, I definitely wanted to be better than him, do things that he has done but do them better. So, just looking ahead and seeing that I can do that and go out there and dominate, that just makes me want to do it even more when I’m healthy.
“When I was healthy this season, I did all I could show, and hopefully, there’s more in store, which is more in store, but I’m going to keep dominating as much as I can to be better than my coach.”
It will be an uphill task — the journey of which starts next April, when Hunter is expected to be a top selection in the 2025 NFL Draft.
