When it comes to MVP talks, one former Heisman Trophy winner is throwing his hat firmly in Lamar Jackson’s ring. After Jackson’s epic three-touchdown outing against the Pittsburgh Steelers, he’s making sure everyone knows the Baltimore Ravens quarterback is the true MVP candidate, not Josh Allen.
With a performance like that, who could blame him? The Ravens are cruising, and Jackson’s putting up numbers that demand attention.
Robert Griffin III Declares Lamar Jackson the Clear MVP
Robert Griffin III isn’t just chiming in; he’s calling it.
“Told y’all the NFL MVP race wasn’t over. Lamar Jackson is having a historical YEAR,” he dropped on X.
And if you ask Griffin, Jackson’s got it locked down. The Ravens’ QB just proved it once again after throwing for three touchdowns against the Steelers in a game that had everyone on edge.

Baltimore’s 34-17 win at M&T Bank Stadium was a statement. Jackson wasn’t flawless, but he completed 15 of 23 for 207 yards and three TDs. He also picked up 22 rushing yards on nine attempts.
The Ravens were tied at 17-17 in the third when Jackson dropped a clutch pass to Mark Andrews, taking the lead. Then, just for kicks, Marlon Humphrey picked off Steelers QB Russell Wilson and took it to the house. Classic Ravens defense.
Jackson’s now thrown for 3,787 yards, 37 touchdowns, and just four interceptions. His 37 passing touchdowns are now a career-high, with two regular-season games still remaining.
While Allen’s lurking in the background, Jackson’s 2024 is already exceeding his 2019 MVP run. The race is tight, but Jackson may now have the edge after Saturday’s performance.
Cam Newton Defends Jackson: Stats Don’t Lie in MVP Race
Cam Newton is not having any of the Jackson slander. The former NFL MVP fired back after some fans and media started boosting Allen over Jackson in the MVP race.
During an appearance on “First Take,” Newton dropped a truth bomb, pointing out that Jackson is actually outshining Allen in nearly every key statistical category — except for overall team record and rushing touchdowns.
“Lamar Jackson is beating Josh Allen in every single statistic,” Newton said, noting that the only reason Jackson isn’t leading in rushing touchdowns is the presence of Derrick Henry. “Only reason why Lamar Jackson isn’t leading in rushing touchdowns is because he got King Derrick Henry. I don’t like the propaganda that’s going on.”
Newton, who knows what it takes to be a dual-threat MVP, having dominated the 2015 season, made it clear: Jackson’s numbers speak for themselves. He’s lighting it up through the air and on the ground, while Allen’s stats aren’t keeping pace. Jackson’s MVP case is looking more solid every week.
