Brian Callahan’s first season as an NFL head coach has not gone as he would have hoped for. The Tennessee Titans are 3-11, and there’s a chance they could finish with the worst record in the league.
The Titans’ head coach recently lashed out during a press conference after a reporter asked him about the narrative of his team being labeled as soft.
Brian Callahan Sounds Off His Disappointment
Callahan was extremely upset with the question, as he thinks that no matter what the Titans’ record is, the team always plays hard, and the players give their all on the field.
“To be honest with you, I think it’s complete and total bulls**t,” said Callahan. “If you want my honest opinion, these guys are tough f***ers, man. They go after it every day, they play hard as hell, and there’s at no point have we ever put on tape, at any point this season, that this is a soft football team. I can’t even wrap my mind around how that would even be a conversation.”
#Titans HC Brian Callahan went on a full-blown rant after being asked about the idea of his team being soft.

The 40-year-old head coach further mentioned that the people who think the Titans are soft have not watched them play.
Callahan added, “I mean, just because we don’t win games doesn’t mean we’re soft. These guys play their a** off, they play hard, and they play physical. You can ask any team that plays against us that when they come off the field they know they played us. That makes me relatively angry that that would be some presumption, that means you just don’t watch s**t… So, you can kind of shove that one right up your a**, to be honest.”
Despite their record, the Titans’ defense has looked solid this season. They have the league’s third-best passing defense, allowing only 182.2 yards per game. Tennessee also has the 12th-best running defense in the league, but poor quarterback play is the biggest reason behind the team’s failure.
Will Levis and Mason Rudolph have thrown a combined 17 interceptions in 14 games which has often put the opposition in good field position. The Titans have turned the ball over a league-high 29 times, and it could be said the team could have a much better record even if they had a quarterback who could just play safe football.
Titans Have Benched Will Levis
Levis threw three interceptions in the Titans’ Week 14 37-27 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. The team has decided to bench him, and Mason Rudolph will start in the upcoming game against the Indianapolis Colts.
Out of the Titans’ three wins this year, two have come in games Rudolph started. The Titans hired Callahan after he did a great job with Joe Burrow as the Bengals’ offensive coordinator. Still, even he couldn’t get Levis to stop committing egregious mistakes.
As mentioned earlier, the Titans will be within touching distance of the top picks in the 2025 NFL Draft. They could be eyeing a new quarterback, and Cam Ward, Shedeur Sanders, and Jalen Milroe are being viewed as the best options available.
