Mike Tomlin and the Pittsburgh Steelers suffered their second loss in the last four games in Week 15, losing 27-13 to the Philadelphia Eagles, with Philly dominating the time of possession (39:52 minutes out of the 60 possible).
The Steelers’ highly touted defense failed to stop Jalen Hurts and A.J. Brown, and the team is now in a must-win situation in their upcoming game against the Baltimore Ravens. Ryan Fitzpatrick has already issued a warning to Pittsburgh ahead of the Week 16 matchup.
Ryan Fitzpatrick Alerted Mike Tomlin About the Ravens
In a conversation with Andrew Whitworth on “Fitz and Whit,” Fitzpatrick discussed how the Steelers are in trouble. He also emphasized how the Ravens will be tough to beat now that Lamar Jackson has started to use his legs.
“I think the Steelers are in trouble,” said Fitzpatrick. “I think the Ravens are coming for them. We saw the Ravens coming off the bye, they were hot on Sunday. Lamar is using his legs again, which I think was just something that they evaluated and said, ‘Lamar, we’re at our best when you’re running.'”
The former Miami Dolphins quarterback added, “We talked about Lamar’s mom yelling at him a little bit, but this game is looming this weekend with the Steelers and the Ravens. I mean, the Steelers have had Lamar’s number, so I think it’s just going to be really, really interesting.”
Pittsburgh has already qualified for the playoffs, but the AFC North division title is still up for grabs. The Ravens (9-5) are one game behind the Steelers (10-4) and have already lost the first game the two teams played earlier this season.
Baltimore will come into the game against the Steelers after a dominating 35-14 win against the New York Giants. The matchup promises to be a great one, and we’ll get to see a lot about what these two Super Bowl contenders are truly made up of this upcoming Saturday.
Lamar Jackson Is 1–4 vs. Steelers as a Starting QB
Jackson has already etched his name among the best quarterbacks to ever play in the league, but so far, the 27-year-old quarterback has failed to perform well against the Steelers.
The Ravens’ star is 1-4 against Pittsburgh as a starting quarterback in the NFL. In these five games, he has thrown for 1,065 yards, five touchdowns, and eight interceptions, completing just 56.7% of his throws, well below his career mark of 65.1%.
Jackson has struggled against the Steelers and the Kansas City Chiefs the most in his career — he is a combined 2-8 against them in the regular season. The Ravens might have to go through the Steelers and the Chiefs if they want to win the Super Bowl.
Baltimore lost 18-16 to the Steelers earlier this year, and a win in Week 16 will help build the team’s confidence for the playoffs. The Ravens’ defense this year is not what it was known for, so all the pressure will be on Jackson to make sure his team comes out on top at home against their biggest rivals.
