An awful scene unfolded in Houston on Sunday. Miami Dolphins wide receiver Grant DuBose was immobilized and wheeled off the field with his neck in a brace after taking a significant hit to the head while attempting to catch a pass in Sunday’s game against the Houston Texans.
Miami Dolphins WR Grant DuBose Injured
The Dolphins have ruled DuBose out with a head injury. He is in stable condition and being taken to a local hospital for further evaluation.
UPDATED (Dec. 16): The Dolphins on Monday announced that Grant DuBose “has movement in all extremities and initial tests have revealed positive results. He remains under the care of doctors for continued observation.”
Every part of DuBose’s body was strapped to the backboard as medical professionals wheeled him to the locker room. Wires from unknown medical monitoring devices were attached to his body, and DuBose also appeared to be receiving oxygen.
The Dolphins clearly had the highest concern after he took a direct blow to the head from Texans safety Calen Bullock on the Dolphins’ first drive of the second half. The hit drew a 15-yard penalty for unnecessary roughness.
It was clear immediately that DuBose was badly injured. He received medical attention for at least 10 minutes before he was taken off the field. Medical professionals cut off his jersey and unscrewed his facemask to be able to provide the care he needed.
Scary situation in Houston as Dolphins WR Grant DuBose is being attended to on the field after this hit. Game is still in a delay.

As doctors worked on DuBose, Dolphins players knelt in prayer.
Sunday’s game was DuBose’s first appearance since September. He had a long stint on injured reserve with a shoulder injury.
After the game, Tagovailoa said the following about the unfortunate play:
“I’m my toughest critic when it comes to ball placement, when it comes to knowing where to go with the ball and all of that. I just feel bad that I even put him in that situation to have gotten hit. It was tough to move on after that happened. I heard some good news that he’s doing well, he’s recovering, but we all know I’ve gone through something very similar, and that’s no fun.”
This is a developing story and will be updated as more information is provided.
