DFS Strategy: Paying Up for Josh Jacobs

I want to start with a quick note on single-game DFS strategies before I get to Jacobs.

Normally, there are endless possibilities when building a DFS lineup. The pool of players is massive, and similarly, there are many more ways to construct a winning lineup. In one-game slates, where there’s less variance between lineups, I like to let the studs do the talking, as it’s often tough to find truly usable dart throws, especially when there’s a Captain.

Now let’s get to the analysis. Josh Jacobs checks every box of a league-winning fantasy football running back. Every. Single. One. And in our case, he checks the same boxes for a DFS lineup as well.

    • Role
    • Offensive Trajectory
    • Form
    • Versatility
    • Team Motivation

The Seahawks are the fifth-worst run defense in terms of success rate, giving Jacobs a floor that is close to elite this weekend. He’s coming off an extended week, and that makes him a great bet to extend his run of 18+ carry games to five straight. If good Geno Smith shows up, no worries, Jacobs has four games with at least four receptions this season and can get you home that way if the Packers end up playing from behind.

It’s an all-systems-go night for the Packers’ stud RB.

    DFS Strategy: JSN SZN

Put these two players side-by-side. Who would you pick for your team in a vacuum?

    • 6’4″, 230 pounds, 4.33-second 40-yard dash time
    • 6’0″, 200 pounds, 4.48-second 40-yard dash time

Move over, big guy — in Seattle, Jaxon Smith-Njigba looks to have moved into the No. 1 WR slot, and he’s not looking back. His success rate seems to be tied with the team’s success, and that’s always a good sign for business as it’s a good way to experience role expansion.

During the Seahawks’ four-game winning streak, all JSN has done is catch 25 of 27 targets for 443 yards and a pair of touchdowns. No big deal. The list of receivers to post four straight games with an 85% catch rate and 70 receiving yards since 2009 isn’t long:

I’m not saying JSN is ARSB … but I’m also not NOT saying that. Lock him in.

DFS Strategy: Are you kicking me? Starting a DEF/K

Now, I wouldn’t normally do this, but I really want to fit Jacobs, Zach Charbonnet, and JSN into my lineup tonight. Seattle’s defense is first in the NFL in fantasy points over the last four weeks, averaging almost 15 FPPG. This Green Bay offense is no joke, but I think both teams will want to slow this game down and run the ball, likely minimizing big-play potential.

With the G.B. offense spreading the ball out very evenly, and the Seattle offense focusing heavily on Charbonnet and JSN, grabbing the Seahawks D/ST for $4,200 gives me just enough room.

In a similar vein, Brandon McManus isn’t a sexy play by any means, but he’s quietly averaged almost 10 FPPG over his last three outings.
