Is Justin Herbert Playing Today? Latest Week 15 Injury News Surrounding Chargers QB

Justin Herbert was dinged up again in Week 14 against the Chiefs. Has that impacted his availability for Week 15?

Justin Herbert has played through numerous injuries throughout his career, missing only four games since becoming the Los Angeles Chargers starter in 2020.

Herbert suffered his latest injury in Week 14 vs. the Kansas City Chiefs. Is the Chargers’ starting quarterback in any danger of missing the Week 15 matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers?

    What Is Justin Herbert’s Injury?

It seems like Herbert is always banged up. Herbert sustained a leg injury versus the Chiefs that had him hobbling off the field. However, he returned and finished the game.

He did not practice on Wednesday with what is being described as an ankle/thigh injury. However, he did return to a limited session on Thursday and upgraded to full on Friday.

Will Herbert Play in Week 15?

Herbert will be the Chargers quarterback on Sunday and shouldn’t have any limitations. As his ascending practice report suggests, there was an element of load management here from the team.

Herbert exited the final injury report and doesn’t actually carry any injury designation into this game. Another injury is always possible, but don’t expect any limitations for the fifth-year passer.

Fantasy Impact of Herbert’s Week 15 Status

    Analysis courtesy PFN’s Kyle Soppe

Herbert has dropped back on 121 third downs — none of his 104 passes on those plays have been intercepted (eight touchdowns). This highlights how valuable he is for the Chargers, even if his fantasy football numbers aren’t jumping off the screen.

With Los Angeles overachieving based on expectations, you’d assume that its shot-caller has more than five top-15 finishes and finished better than a QB7 at his peak.

Josh Allen and Joe Burrow need to put up elite fantasy numbers for their teams to succeed — that’s simply not true for Herbert, and I don’t see that changing over the final month.

Herbert’s fantasy value will receive a meaningful boost if Ladd McConkey is available. The rookie is questionable after missing last week’s game and leads the Chargers in receptions, targets, and receiving yards.
