2x Super Bowl Champ Rob Ninkovich Takes a Hilarious Jab at Bill Belichick Amid Recruitment Concerns

One of the major concerns surrounding Belichick’s takeover at UNC was his ability to recruit, as that is one of the biggest differences between coaching an NFL team and coaching at the collegiate level.

While many believe the former Patriots coach will struggle to recruit high school talent to the Tar Heels, ex-Super Bowl champ Rob Ninkovich took a cheeky jab at Belichick due to his relationship with girlfriend Jordon Hudson, who’s almost 50 years younger than him.

Ninkovich said, “He has experience recruiting young talent. Just saying. But I won’t get into that one.”

During his appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show,” Belichick opened up about his potential recruiting strategies, explaining that playing for an NFL program at a college level would be like playing for an NFL program with similar rules, schedules, meals, etc.

Belichick reaffirmed his confidence in his ability to equip young talent with the appropriate opportunities to help them reach their NFL goals.

“I did grow up around [college football],” Belichick said. “My dad was a college coach who was at North Carolina for three years, Vanderbilt for a year and then Navy for 50. It seems college football is more like pro football. I’ve talked to many college coaches about things like salary cap, putting value on players, and negotiating. … I think there are similarities. I haven’t experienced it firsthand.”

“Let me put this in capital letters, if, ‘I.F.’ I was in a college program, that college program would be a pipeline to the NFL for players that had ability to play in the NFL,” Belichick said. “It would be a professional program: training, nutrition, scheme, coaching, techniques, that would transfer to the NFL. It will be an NFL program at a college level.”

“I feel very confident that I have the contacts in the NFL to pave the way for those players that would have the opportunity to compete in the National Football League,” Belichick said before the official news came out.

It will be interesting to see how Belichick adapts to the new era of college football with NIL, the transfer portal, and much more.
