Deebo Samuel Sr. and the San Francisco 49ers snapped their three-game losing streak in Week 14. They won 38-13 against the Chicago Bears, and the team needed a dominant performance like that.
With Brandon Aiyuk out injured, Samuel is the 49ers’ WR1, but he is having the worst statistical season of his career. The 28-year-old receiver recently spoke about his struggles and blamed the team for not getting him the ball.
Fans Troll Deebo Samuel Sr. for Latest Comments
Samuel defended himself on X (formerly known as Twitter), saying, “Not struggling at all, just not getting the ball!” which was not taken well by the fans. They called him out and highlighted his lack of separation from the defenders.
Here’s how the fans reacted on social media:
Try getting open first. Hope this helps🫶

“You’re not breaking tackles like you used to; we all saw the game,” said another fan.
You've been terrible with or without the ball. https://t.co/M9llnSEyNt

In 12 games this year, Samuel has 40 receptions for 553 yards and just one touchdown. He is averaging a career-low in receptions per game (3.3), receiving yards per game (46.1), and rushing yards per attempt (2.9).
Samuel was linked with a move away from the franchise before the start of the season, but the 49ers kept him. Unfortunately, the decision has not worked out for the team, as the South Carolina product’s value around the league has taken a big hit.
The 49ers star still has one year left on his current contract, but the franchise could part ways with him after the season. Samuel may be released to manage the salary cap, but San Francisco would hope to get something in return for him.
Samuel Has the Most Touches Among 49ers WRs
In his post on X, Samuel complained about not getting the ball. However, in reality, that is not the real issue. He has had 72 touches in 12 games for the 49ers and is only behind running back Jordan Mason, who had 164 touches in the same number of games.
The one-time Pro Bowler leads the team’s receivers in total touches and touches per game (6.0) this season. Despite that, Samuel is behind George Kittle and Jauan Jennings when it comes to total receiving yards this season, both of whom have played one less game than him.
This season has been very disappointing for Samuel, who many consider one of the best offensive weapons in the league due to his usage in both the running and passing games. The 49ers have dealt with many injuries this year, which should have improved Samuel’s production, but unfortunately, that isn’t the case.
Many 49ers fans expect Samuel not to play for the team next season and anything that he says to defend himself may be used against him unless he starts playing like his old self.
