Broncos Super Bowl Champion Condemns Josh Allen’s Bills to Another Ring-Less Season

Aqib Talib believes that the Buffalo Bills' defense is putting a damper on Josh Allen's season and their chances of winning the Super Bowl.

Josh Allen might win the MVP, but what about the Buffalo Bills’ defense? Former Denver Broncos Super Bowl champion Aqib Talib has thrown some serious shade at the team’s title hopes. Talib dissected Buffalo’s defensive flaws after their heartbreaking 44-42 loss to the Los Angeles Rams.

Aqib Talib Believes Buffalo’s Defense Is Letting Down Josh Allen’s Heroics

Buffalo’s offense against the Rams was led by Josh Allen, who made NFL history by becoming the first player to notch three passing touchdowns and three rushing touchdowns in a regular-season game.

Despite Allen’s six-TD masterpiece, the defense faltered when it mattered most. Puka Nacua’s late 19-yard touchdown sealed Buffalo’s fate. Critics questioned head coach Sean McDermott’s defensive strategies, and Talib was one of them.

“I love what Josh Allen is doing. Man, he’s controlling the game. He’s doing his job. But that defense, though, it just don’t look championship-like to me,” Talib said during an appearance on ‘Up and Adams.’

The Bills’ defense leaked 457 yards, of which Rams QB Matthew Stafford registered 320 yards. Talib didn’t appreciate Buffalo’s conservative defensive style, which he believes is letting them down. “I’m not putting no cash on the Bills when they play a cold team. They play too conservative. We’re gonna stay two high and let you get close to the red zone, and then we gonna lock now,” Talib added.

It’s a critique that stings even more, given the Bills’ inability to capitalize on their explosive offense. Allen, however, remains the bright spot for Buffalo. Rams head coach Sean McVay called him an “alien” after the game, gloating at his ability to dominate with his arm, legs, and football IQ.

“He’s a nightmare to defend,” McVay admitted, backing Allen’s status as a legitimate contender for the NFL MVP this season.

“Some of the stuff he can do and the things he can create, we knew he was capable of that. He’s shown that. It’s why he’s as well-respected and regarded in this league as he is. It’s all deserved and earned…

“I don’t think you can just sit back and let him navigate the pocket. He can beat you from the pocket, he can beat you with his mind, he can beat you with his arm, he can beat you with his legs. It’s why he’s a legitimate MVP candidate. It’s why he’s one of the best players in this league,” McVay continued.

The Bills’ road to a Super Bowl looks increasingly rocky, especially to Talib, but Allen’s heroics keep them in the conversation. However, unless the defense steps up, Talib’s prediction of another ring-less season might just come true.

The Bills are now in a precarious position as they prepare for their next challenge against the Detroit Lions in Week 15. McDermott’s men are under pressure and must prove they’re more than just a one-man show.
