Top Draft Prospect Shedeur Sanders Made Former Colorado QB Forget He Was Coach Prime’s Son

    Published on

Former Colorado Buffaloes quarterback Joel Klatt detailed the rapid development he has seen from top prospect Shedeur Sanders.

In a video highlighting star quarterback Shedeur Sanders’ rise to one of the top prospects in this year’s draft, former Colorado Buffaloes QB Joel Klatt revealed that Shedeur’s talents made him forget that he was the son of “Prime Time” Deion Sanders.

Sanders enjoyed a remarkable campaign as the Buffaloes’ starting quarterback this year and boosted his NFL Draft stock in the process. On the season, Sanders threw for 3,926 yards, 35 touchdowns, and only eight interceptions. He was also instrumental to the team’s success, something that saw the program finish the regular season with a 9-3 record and in fourth position in the Big 12 conference.

What Did Klatt Say About Shedeur Sanders?

In the YouTube video released by the official Buffaloes profile, Klatt explained the growth he has seen in Shedeur and how his opinions of the young QB have changed in recent years.

“To see his growth, from that player that I saw when I first turned on the film at Jackson, to what I see now from Shedeur, as a guy that is a for sure top three, two, maybe the top overall pick in the NFL Draft, his growth has been staggering,” Klatt detailed.

He further expressed how he does not view Shedeur as the son of Coach Prime but instead as one of the top quarterbacks in the nation.

Shedeur Sanders’ 2025 NFL Draft Profile and Projection

As Klatt alludes to, Sanders is expected to be one of the top names and quarterbacks taken in the 2025 NFL Draft. With many teams in desperate need of a long-term answer at the QB position, Sanders may not be waiting too long on draft night to hear his name called by commissioner Roger Goodell.

This sentiment is shared by Pro Football Network’s Jacob Infante, who projects that Sanders will be selected No. 2 overall by the Las Vegas Raiders in his recent 2025 NFL Mock Draft.

As Infante outlines, “The Las Vegas Raiders have found a superstar tight end in the form of 2024 first-round pick Brock Bowers. However, the guys throwing him the ball in Las Vegas haven’t quite looked the part of franchise quarterbacks this season.

Shedeur Sanders is a tough, accurate quarterback with an acute sense of anticipation behind his throws and the ability to maintain his composure in the pocket. He has a solid arm and processes blitzes and exotic rush packages well, too.”

As is clear, Sanders has developed into an intriguing prospect in recent years and has the ability to make an instant impact at the professional level.
