Earlier in the week, it was rumored that Colorado Buffaloes head coach and Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee Deion Sanders requested that his son, Shedeur Sanders, be drafted by the Las Vegas Raiders. Though nobody directly involved in the process has officially confirmed this, it does provide another level of speculation surrounding the future of the talented Colorado quarterback.
The Raiders are in desperate need of a long-term solution at quarterback after struggling under center since the departure of Derek Carr. This year has seen Las Vegas play Gardner Minshew II, Aidan O’Connell, and Desmond Riddler, with the first two suffering potential season-ending injuries.
As a result, many NFL analysts believe the Raiders will be in the market for a new passer in April’s NFL Draft.
Social Media Reacts to Deion Sanders’ Rumored Comments
It was rumored that Prime Time told Las Vegas that he prefers his son to be drafted by the historic franchise. In response, fans have been quick to question how Coach Prime, who is currently the head coach of Colorado, could have the power to make such a request.
One user discussed whether this meant Sanders would have a new role with the Raiders, specifically as the general manager.

Coach Prime has publicly denied rumors about following his son to the NFL, emphasizing his focus on the Buffaloes.
Will the Raiders Pick Sanders in the 2025 NFL Draft?
While it’s still too early to definitively know what the NFL Draft order will look like or where Sanders will be taken, there is a strong possibility the quarterback will be available when Las Vegas is on the clock.
As of now, Pro Football Network’s Jacob Infante has Sanders being selected by the Raiders with the second pick in his latest 2025 NFL Mock Draft.
“The Las Vegas Raiders have found a superstar tight end in the form of 2024 first-round pick Brock Bowers,” Infante wrote. “However, the guys throwing him the ball in Las Vegas haven’t quite looked the part of franchise quarterbacks this season.
“Shedeur Sanders is a tough, accurate quarterback with an acute sense of anticipation behind his throws and the ability to maintain his composure in the pocket. He has a solid arm and processes blitzes and exotic rush packages well, too.”
