‘We Got Our A** Kicked Today’ – Caleb Williams Doesn’t Mince Words on Assessment of Bears After Getting Blown Out by 49ers

    Published on

Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams openly talked about his team's disappointing blowout loss to a struggling San Francisco 49ers team.

Caleb Williams and the Chicago Bears were 4-2 heading into their bye week. The team was playing well, and many believed the quarterback could take them to the playoffs in his rookie season.

Sadly for Bears fans, their team has lost seven straight games since then, with the latest being a 38-13 blowout loss to the San Francisco 49ers. Chicago trailed 24-0 at halftime, as the 49ers completely dominated them on both sides of the ball.

Caleb Williams Gets Candid on Loss to 49ers

San Francisco is having one of its worst seasons under Kyle Shanahan and has several players hurt. Yet, the NFC West franchise handed the Bears a devastating loss in their first game after firing Matt Eberflus.

The Bears quarterback spoke to the media after the loss and took full accountability for the unacceptable performance in Week 14.

“We got our a** kicked today, and there’s no way around it,” said Williams after the loss. “I think at one point, they had going into half 240-something yards, I believe, and we had four total yards. So, that’s, I mean, regardless of how we feel, regardless of, you know, all of that, we got it handed to us.”

Per Warren Sharp, the 49ers had 319 total yards in the first half against the Bears, the most by any team in the NFL this season. On the other hand, Chicago had only four total yards, the fewest by any team since 2015.

Thomas Brown is the Bears’ interim head coach for the rest of the season. The result against the 49ers further proves that Chicago needs to be very careful about who it hires in the offseason, as it needs a complete overhaul.

Williams was 17 of 23 in the loss to the 49ers for 134 yards and two touchdowns, with a passer rating of 116.9. His numbers look modest at the end of the game, but the Bears failed to score a single point in the first half and dug themselves in a massive hole.

Bears Are on Track To Get a Top-10 Pick in 2025 NFL Draft

The Bears are 4-9 on the season, and if the season ended today (Dec. 8), they would have the ninth overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.

Chicago has a tough set of matchups left in the season, and they could potentially end the year with an 11-game losing streak. These are the teams that they still have to play:

All four of these teams are playing better than the Bears in every aspect and each squad is likely to make the playoffs. Getting a higher draft pick is not easy, but based on how things have gone so far, Chicago is expected to pick a player early in next year’s draft.
