The star quarterback for the Colorado Buffaloes, Shedeur Sanders, played a key factor in Colorado’s success, racking up 3,926 yards and 35 touchdowns with just eight interceptions this season. Now, he continues to shine, as he earned the prestigious title of Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year.
And, of course, how could this achievement go unnoticed by his proud mother, Pilar Sanders?

Pilar’s post perfectly captured her pride. She has always been a big supporter of her son, Shedeur, and is often seen cheering for him in the stands. Now, as he finally reaps the rewards of his hard work, Pilar couldn’t be more excited.
Shedeur’s recognition as Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year comes after he took the Buffaloes to a 52-0 win against Oklahoma State in their last regular season game. Shedeur threw for 438 yards, five touchdowns, and one interception.
In addition to the Big 12 honor, Shedeur recently won the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award, which recognizes the nation’s best upperclassman quarterback. These achievements only boost his status as a top NFL prospect, with many experts predicting he will be the first QB to be selected in the 2025 NFL Draft.
Deion Sanders Joins the Celebration
Coach Prime wasn’t going to stay quiet about his son’s incredible achievement. The proud father also took to Instagram to celebrate Shedeur’s award. Deion shared his excitement with an uplifting post, thanking the higher power for all the blessings.
“Thank you, JESUS, for everything you continue to do. The Lord is my Shepherd!”

In the caption, Sanders tagged not only his son but also the two-way star Travis Hunter, who earned the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year award.
Travis Hunter’s Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year Honor
It wasn’t just Shedeur getting recognition from the Big 12 this season. His teammate, Hunter, also took home the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year award.
Hunter impressed everyone with his play on both sides of the ball. As a defensive back, he recorded four interceptions and 11 passes defensed while also shining as a receiver with 92 catches, 14 touchdowns, and 1,152 yards.
His ability to make an impact both defensively and offensively has been a huge asset to the Buffaloes, and his recognition was well deserved. Now, as both, Sanders and Hunter, head to the NFL, it will be interesting to see how they perform as competitors — or potentially rivals.
