Former Eagles RB Calls Time of Death on Lamar Jackson’s MVP Campaign

Lamar Jackson's road to another MVP accolade is over suggests a former Philadelphia Eagles RB after the Ravens' fresh loss at home.

Lamar Jackson has been having another phenomenal year on the gridiron this season. With 29 passing TDs already to his name, he has surpassed his last season’s tally of 24.

However, according to LeSean McCoy, his chances of becoming the MVP again have dwindled after the loss against the Philadelphia Eagles. The former Eagles running back highlights two players who have the potential to overtake Jackson.

Lamar Jackson’s Back-To-Back MVP Road Is Not Easy Claims LeSean McCoy

In the Ravens’ 24-19 loss to the Eagles, Jackson ended the game with 237 yards and two touchdowns. He also ended the game with 79 rushing yards, 39 of which came in the final run with the game already decided. Hence, during McCoy’s appearance on FS1’s “The Facility,” the two-time Super Bowl champion argued that after this latest loss, Jackson will not be crowned as the MVP for the third time.

“Yeah, it’s over,” said McCoy about Jackson’s chances of regaining the MVP title. “He ran into a big a** bird. Let’s be honest. Lamar is a phenomenal player.”

“I just think this year, with the losses over and over again, I can’t put him as the MVP. Last year we talked about how good he played. He’s playing as good as he can this year. They were one of the favorites.”

The six-time Pro Bowler further highlighted that Derrick Henry and Josh Allen have a better claim to the trophy than Jackson.

At the press conference after the loss, Jackson talked about not attacking some rushing lanes in the game. “My momma just told me that. She just cussed me out,” Jackson said. “I’m mad. We’re going to get after it. I’m not going to lie to you, we’re going to get after it. I can’t wait for this bye to get on. We got the Giants coming up, I’m ready to go.”

Led by quarterback Lamar Jackson and running back Derrick Henry, the Baltimore Ravens have the NFL's best offense through 12 weeks, averaging 426.7 yards per game.

“She said there were lanes I should have taken and ran. I was just trying to let guys develop routes. We had developing routes. I was just trying to go through my progression, but yeah, she [was] right.”

As Jackson pointed out, the Ravens will be facing off against the New York Giants next. However, that is in Week 15 as the Ravens enjoy a bye week in Week 14.
