NFL Bound Travis Hunter Receives Huge Surprise Gift From Colorado Supporter Amid Serious Heisman Contention

Colorado Buffaloes star dual-threat player Travis Hunter received a signed Rashaan Salaam jersey from a fan.

Earlier this week, a Colorado Buffaloes fan presented star dual-threat player Travis Hunter with a signed Rashaan Salaam jersey. Salaam, who was a running back at the University of Colorado Boulder between 1992 and 1994, is the only Buffaloes player in history to win the Heisman Trophy.

Awarded annually to the top college football player in the nation, Hunter is the current favorite for the prestigious honor after his dominant season as both a wide receiver and a cornerback. Salaam won the Heisman in 1994 after accruing 2,055 yards and 24 touchdowns in a campaign where he had four games with over 200 rushing yards.

What Did the Fan Present Travis Hunter?

In a post released to social media, Hunter can be seen with the aforementioned Buffaloes fan, with both individuals holding the signed Salaam jersey.

In addition, both Hunter and the fan appear to be wearing shirts highlighting the former’s bid to become the next Buffaloes player to win the Heisman. The shirt features a graphic designed photo of Hunter running with the football, as well as the phrase “HE12MAN”.

Will Hunter Join Rashaan Salaam in the Buffaloes’ History Books?

While nothing has been officially confirmed yet, Hunter is currently the favorite for this year’s Heisman Trophy award. Should he win the honor, he will join the very short list — currently only with Salaam’s name — of Heisman winners who attended Colorado.

Hunter is the projected favorite for the award due to his rare blend of offensive and defensive talents. His elite speed and great hands allow him to stretch the field and succeed in contested catch situations.

Furthermore, Hunter’s footwork and anticipation in defensive coverage make him one of the cornerbacks in the country who are most avoided by opposing quarterbacks and coaches.

Offensively, he has amassed 92 receptions, 1,152 receiving yards, and 15 total touchdowns on the season. Defensively, Hunter has four interceptions and one forced fumble, despite being largely taken out of numerous games this year.

The combination of these attributes makes Hunter one of the most exciting and versatile college football players in recent memory and someone who is putting attention back on the Buffaloes’ football program. Despite being out of the spotlight for the better part of a decade, Hunter has revolutionized the program, turning it into one of the top football schools in the country.

Though Hunter has not won the award yet, it’s clear that one Buffaloes supporter believes that he will join Salaam as the only Heisman winners in school history very soon.
