The Colorado Buffaloes delivered a commanding 52-0 win over the Oklahoma State Cowboys in Week 14 of the college football season, improving their record to 9-3. Yet, they were still eliminated from Big 12 title contention.
Despite the disappointment, Colorado’s regular-season finale went exactly as planned. Facing an underperforming 3-8 team, head coach Deion Sanders ensured his players didn’t underestimate their rivals — a lesson learned from their 37-21 loss to Kansas a week prior.
Deion Sanders’ Fiery ‘No Hand Warmers’ Speech
The game against Oklahoma State felt completely one-sided, with the Buffaloes taking a commanding 21-0 lead in the first quarter. And they didn’t let up. Coach Prime made sure of it, hyping his players up on the sidelines and motivating them to give their best as seniors like Shedeur and Shilo Sanders played their final home game.

In a now-viral video, Coach Prime can be seen delivering a fiery speech during the game. Showing some tough love, Sanders banned players from using hand warmers despite the chilly afternoon.
“Don’t fall prey to conditions. It ain’t that cold! I don’t want no hand warmers, I don’t wanna see none of that bull junk. All right? Let’s play football! This is football. What? Let’s play football! Let’s toughen it up!” Sanders said.
The team understood the mission and finished with a dominating 52-0 win. Shedeur Sanders led the charge, completing 34 of 41 passes for 438 yards, scoring five touchdowns, and throwing one interception.
Two-way star Travis Hunter also put on a show, tallying 10 receptions for 116 yards and three touchdowns as a receiver. On defense, he added a tackle and an interception.
Another standout was wide receiver LaJohntay Wester, who racked up 11 receptions for 175 yards and two touchdowns.

“Hey seniors, seniors, seniors, I’m proud of y’all. I appreciate y’all. Some of y’all it hurts my heart to see that y’all are leaving. I truly got emotional before the game because I can’t fathom not going out there in that stadium without y’all because of how y’all mean to me and how much y’all mean to this program. Y’all helped shape what we have now is a real Buff nation,” Sanders said.
Several Buffaloes players are set to enter the 2025 NFL Draft, including Hunter, Shedeur, and Shilo Sanders. Joining them are DE Dayon Hayes, WR Jimmy Horn Jr., WR Will Sheppard, DE Keaten Wade, DT Chidozie Nwankwo, TE Sav’ell Smalls, and LB Demouy Kennedy.
It’s undoubtedly an emotional moment for Coach Prime, who has been instrumental in their growth and the program’s success. Nonetheless, he’s proud of their achievements and rooting for their continued success in every way possible.
