Why Isn’t Taylor Swift Attending the Chiefs’ Away Games? Examining Multiple Reasons She Has Skipped Road Games

    Published on

Taylor Swift has yet to attend an away game this season. Is this due to her busy schedule or is there a reason she's only attending Chiefs home games?

Fans of Taylor Swift and the Kansas City Chiefs know that she has now attended a number of games throughout the 2024 NFL season. However, it’s worth noting that Swift has only attended Kansas City’s home games this year.

Is this just a coincidence based on her busy schedule? Or is there a reason she hasn’t ventured outside of Arrowhead Stadium this season?

Why Hasn’t Taylor Swift Attended Any Road Games This Season?

Swift has a crazy schedule, especially when she was still on her hugely popular “Eras Tour.” There were certain road games that she missed because she had a concert in another city. However, even when her schedule has been open (like Week 15 against the Cleveland Browns), she opted to cheer on Travis Kelce from afar when the Chiefs are playing on the road.

Adam Lefkoe, a broadcaster who is close with Jason Kelce and the Kelce family as a whole, shared a possible explanation. During an appearance on “Up & Adams,” Lefkoe mentioned that Swift and the Kelce family had a rough away-game experience at Highmark Stadium when the Chiefs faced the Buffalo Bills in the Divisional Round of last year’s NFL playoffs.

“I have heard from people very close [to the Kelces] that it was not a great experience in Buffalo. It was not — for all parties involved, and I’m talking about the most famous of all the parties,” Lefkoe said. “I think that it kind of shocked the Kelce family and everyone related to the Kelce family the reception they got.”

Lefkoe said Swift and the Kelces were expecting “an amazing game with good energy,” but instead, “they experienced Bills Mafia in full form” and dealt with “complete ruthlessness.”

“I think they left and went, ‘I don’t know if I want to experience that again,'” Lefkoe said.

Based on that quote, it sounds like this experience may have soured Swift on road games.

The Chiefs defeated the Bills 27-24 in that game and Travis had a terrific performance, catching five passes for 75 yards and two touchdowns. You might recall that this was the game when Jason was shirtless and interacting with fans.

Well, Lefkoe described this as Kelce getting the last laugh after hours of being cursed out and treated poorly by Buffalo fans.

Lefkoe pointed out that the Bills fans were doing “their job” by making the opposing fans uncomfortable but hinted that they may have crossed the line.

“You don’t have to be mean or hurt people,” Lefkoe said. “Don’t do that.”

After Kansas City advanced past Buffalo, Swift attended the AFC Championship Game in Baltimore and watched the Chiefs punch their ticket to the Super Bowl. She was also in attendance for Super Bowl LVIII in Las Vegas when Kansas City defeated the San Francisco 49ers. But ever since, she has only attended the Chiefs’ home games at Arrowhead Stadium.

It’s worth noting that security concerns could also be to blame. Page Six reported that security issues make it difficult for the pop superstar to attend road games.

Swift has a security team that needs to work with the stadium personnel in advance of each game to ensure her safety. While her security team knows the crew at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium very well and has secured that location numerous times, road games present new challenges.

“If she is going to a place that isn’t Arrowhead, there are security concerns,” a source told Page Six. “She has worked with Arrowhead so many times, they feel at ease and comfortable. Going to all kinds of different stadiums, you need to send a team in advance.”

The outlet notes that Swift’s security concerns have heightened since August when she had to cancel three concerts at Ernst Happel Stadium in Vienna after authorities uncovered a planned terrorist attack.

The Chiefs have one more road game during the regular season: against the Denver Broncos in Week 18 (TBD). Swift recently wrapped up her “Eras Tour,” so perhaps her schedule is a bit more open now.

Swift will likely be present for the Chiefs’ playoff games. She was a fixture during last year’s title run, and now her schedule will allow her to cheer on Kelce and the Chiefs as they try to become the first team in NFL history to win three straight Super Bowls.

Kelce Spoils Swift With $175,000 in Luxury Gifts, 35 Bouquets

Leading up to Swift’s 35th birthday, there were reports that Kelce was determined to make it “extra special,” even though the Chiefs had a road game against the Cleveland Browns two days later. Well, now we know what Kelce did to celebrate his girlfriend’s big day, and he did not disappoint.

Kelce bought 35 bouquets of roses for Swift to celebrate her 35th birthday, spending $19,325 on the flowers from the luxury company The Million Roses, according to The U.S. Sun.

But his big surprise didn’t end there.

Kelce also bought the pop superstar $155,200 in jewelry, including a Day-Date 36 Rolex ($60,350), an Alhambra necklace ($35,000), a customized golf split cuff from Tiffany & Co. with a heart engraved inside ($22,000), an Elsa Peretti open-heart bracelet ($25,000), a vintage Alhambra pendant ($8,200), and a pair of Alhambra earrings ($4,1500).

“Thirty-five years old is a very important birthday, and he wanted to make things really special for this special occasion,” a source close to the couple told the outlet. “Many luxury items, and the bouquets, one for each year.

“He has been working on this for a bit now, and he knows that the occasion was super important as now they are able to spend way more time together as the tour is over.

“The last few months have been very intense for the both of them, and now they just want to enjoy each other, and Taylor’s birthday is the first day of many more days and times for celebrations in the next couple of weeks.”

Kelce was born on Oct. 5, 1989, in Westlake, Ohio, meaning he is 35 years old. Swift was born on Dec. 13, 1989, in West Reading, Pa., meaning she just turned 35 years old. The age gap between Travis and Taylor is just 69 days.

This echoes what Page Six reported prior to the birthday celebration: Kelce had “been shopping for Christmas and birthday gifts for Taylor for quite a while now,” including certain items “Taylor has casually mentioned she would like.”

So, what did Kelce have in store for Christmas?

“Travis and Taylor love birthdays. They also love Christmas, and they are so looking forward to that,” the source told The U.S. Sun. “Travis kept some more unique presents in his sleeve for Christmas time; he loves to surprise Taylor and get her some very nice gifts.”
