When NFL schedule makers put together their three-game slate for this year’s Thanksgiving festivities, I highly doubt they predicted we would be watching Cooper Rush take on Drew Lock in a battle between two floundering NFC Teams. Yes, the Cowboys put up a heck of a fight last week against Washington for the upset, but they are still a fundamentally flawed football team with a backup quarterback at the helm.
Meanwhile, the Giants are an absolute mess. They are now on their third starting QB in Drew Lock after cutting their “franchise” signal caller and losing their backup Tommy DeVito to injury.

Cowboys vs. Giants Preview and Prediction
It might be a good time to bank some brownie points with your family and step away from football for a few hours during the New York Giants and Dallas Cowboys matchup. This is set to be a matchup between Drew Lock and Cooper Rush, which is hardly the headline matchup the NFL would have hoped for.
The numbers for both teams this season tell you that this game should be close. The Giants’ numbers are mostly formed with Daniel Jones, and Lock is a downgrade on that front.
Therefore, the Cowboys should, in theory, be the play. But are you really trusting your money to Cooper Rush on Thanksgiving? Through nine weeks, Dallas ranked 27th in pass success rate and 31st in red-zone touchdown rate, metrics that have been trending in the wrong direction with Cooper Rush at the helm.
CeeDee Lamb is special, but the lack of offensive balance has undone this unit. The Cowboys haven’t been able to pick up yards on the ground this season, and the lack of a secondary pass catcher to the degree that they went out and acquired Jonathan Mingo at the deadline is a problem.
However, things aren’t much better on the other side of the ball. The Giants had a Daniel Jones problem, and while they are now free of that, there is still the matter of landing the right man for the job of leading this rebuild.
This season, the Giants are the second-worst offense in points per drive, thanks in large part to the lowest red-zone TD rate in the league.
Malik Nabers certainly looks like a special player at a position that is growing in value across the NFL. Yet, without consistent QB play, New York’s offense will be relegated to the bottom five in our rankings for the foreseeable future — just ask the star rookie receiver; he’ll let you know!
Save your money. Bet on the game before or after this one. Or, take a nap after stuffing your face. Either way, both options are better than betting on Cooper Rush or Drew Lock.
Prediction: Cowboys 21, Giants 17
