Deion Sanders Declares Travis Hunter As Unanimous Winner of College Awards

Hunter has been a pivotal star in Colorado’s success so far. The team is 8-2 and has improved from the previous season of 4-8. Moreover, they have bowl eligibility and a potential spot in the 12-team College Football Playoff field under their belt.

On Wednesday (Nov. 20), reiterating the relevance of his prime weapon Hunter on offense and defense, Sanders mentioned that the wideout/CB is qualified to win every award in college football.

“Travis is the best defensive player and the best offensive player in the country. So if that stabilizes and authenticates who he is, so let it be. But I don’t. I don’t see anybody better,” Sanders said in the press conference.

“I don’t see anyone projected better. The scouts will tell you. Everybody will tell you who knows this game of football. So, I mean, he should win the Thorpe, the Biletnikoff, the Jerry Rice, and the Prime Award. He should win every darn award that you got. Matter of fact, why don’t they have me on an award?” he joked.

The Heisman front-runner has recorded 74 receptions and nine touchdowns so far. He is just short of 89 yards to post a 1,000-yard season, and that could make him a top pick for the Heisman and Biletnikoff awards. His defensive prowess has also made him eligible for the Jim Thorpe and other honors.

Hunter To Become One of the Top Picks in 2025 NFL Draft

With so much in his bag and an impressive past, the two-way star is likely to go off the draft boards in the top five. While speaking about his favorite destination back in October 2024, Hunter mentioned the Denver Broncos to be a sweet spot. This would keep him in Colorado and stay close to his well-wishers.

“I wish I could go to the Broncos, just to stay in Colorado because so many people welcomed with open arms,” Hunter said in the Kickin’ It With Dee podcast, per the Daily Mail.

Similarly, he is also viewed as a No. 1 pick, especially after his explosive showdown against Utah in Week 12. Teams looking to bolster their receiving corps, getting Hunter would be a great steal, and at the same time, his defensive skill sets would prove to be a major addition.
